  • He’s a poet, a prophet, a pilgrim and a preacher. Maybe not the best singer but he always performs with such emotion. I don’t think there is one Kristofferson song I don’t absolutely love. Thanks for posting ;o)

  • @Ncompasscom2 i reckon he is an awesome singer he does all his songs better than all the covers

  • I am really surprised that this song and another Kris Kris song "Jody and the kid" do not have more of a following. Kris displays the true poet in these pieces.Beautiful but under appreciated.

  • thanks so much for posting this!!!!! I haven't heard this song since I was little and I've been trying to find it ever since the Kristofferson tape we had broke.

  • I just saw kris live tonight. It was so great! I consider myself blessed to have been able to see such a great singer/songwriter live!

  • kris kristofferson, was there anyone any better?

  • I am SO thankful for my parents having all their old records lying around when I was 13 and very curious. What discoveries I made and this was one of the very first! Brings back memories.

  • The author paints the scene, story line, emotions and emotional content with words, tieing it all together with wonderful charismatic music. I believe this is one of his most powerful compositions. Right up there with the piece about the hippies, the piece about the strung out wino or that wonderful prayer song.

  • This is a very personal song for me. Thanks for posting it.

  • You need to hear Roger Miller's version.

    Same lyrics but fantastic delivery.

Kris wrote it, Roger nailed it!

  • They're all more heartfelt from Kristofferson himself.

  • DO YOU HAVE THIS ON CD BY MILLER !!!
