People say that being yourself is being the person whom you want to be. What if the person whom you want to be is a guy who gets all the chicks, makes friends with everyone, and is popular everywhere? When someone can't achieve this, people accuse them of 'having an ego' or 'false self'. How though? If that's the person who they want to be, then how is it an ego?

@JonathanStalberg Alot of people have acne. Almost everyone expierences blascheads and pimples, etc. its just something we all have to get used too. I'm above average in weight and i always feel like im being starred at for it. But in reality, im not. people like me for who i am,and i get complimented for my hair and my smile and everything and i dont let my weight get to me like it used too. just think of what you do like about yourself rather than what you dont. Trust me, I've been there.
@ChewbaccaRenee The way I feel is that people hate me for who I am...its hard to be myself sometimes and I have social anxiety for that matter. And for the record, I don't think I like any physical traits about me other than my face shape...that's about it and other things about my personlaity and character. Physical appearance wise, there is almost nothing I like about myself sadly and I feel like its going to affect me for the rest of my life. I get very paranoid.

@maxmage132 You need to embrace your individuality. Remember that there is no one else in the world like you. Believe in yourself. There is no need to feel inadequate. If you believe that you are a worthy human being worth respect, attention and love then other people will provide you with respect, attention and love. Its all about how you perceive yourself and your self esteem. Be secure in yourself.
@ImMrStealYoGurl What I meant by 'not giving a crap what others think of you' is this: in order to be confident you need to BELIEVE IN YOUR SELF. These are very important words. Believing in yourself will give the impression to others that you are comfortable with who you are, and therefore they will think positively of you. If they think you're stupid, then ignore them. That's what I meant. Embrace those who love you, forget those who don't. And keep reminding yourself that you are adequate.

I think there is a limit - like on a scale of 1-10 (1 being incredibly nice, and 10 being an absolute dickhead), a 5 is about right, maybe 6. @Style1130 how about try applying just one of these tips TODAY? Like practice it around someone you are very comfortable with, someone who wont judge you. for me, its my dad where i have ease to do whatever i feel like bcuz i know he will love me no matter what. I had trouble singing in front of people, & i still do a little but not as much as i use to. i just practiced singing around my dad, & it was scary at first but later it feels so free! so i have more confidence to sing around others! =)
People do judge others on their appearance - it goes hand-in-hand with the society we live in. We make assessments about strangers within the first 5 seconds of meeting them. People are judging you right now based on your appearance. I don't buy this twaddle that it's purely about over thinking.

I am someone who used to be a strong positive thinker, and very confident. i am still somewhat confident to be honest, but as ive gotten older there have been stresses in my life and people around me e.g. marriages going wrong, being kicked off their college courses, hospitalisation, financial problems.

I think there is a limit - like on a scale of 1-10 (1 being incredibly nice, and 10 being an absolute dickhead), a 5 is about right, maybe 6. But your description seems like a 10 which isn't what attracts women, but infact offends them

@Style1130 how about try applying just one of these tips TODAY? Like practice it around someone you are very comfortable with, someone who wont judge you. for me, its my dad where i have ease to do whatever i feel like bcuz i know he will love me no matter what. I had trouble singing in front of people, & i still do a little but not as much as i use to. i just practiced singing around my dad, & it was scary at first but later it feels so free! so i have more confidence to sing around others! =)

People do judge others on their appearance - it goes hand-in-hand with the society we live in. We make assessments about strangers within the first 5 seconds of meeting them. People are judging you right now based on your appearance. I don't buy this twaddle that it's purely about over thinking.

Honestly, you end up feeling like your existence is burden to society...
Oh, and when you do try to think positively and put confident look on, you come off looking like show-off and the more likely people are going to talk about you (in a bad way of course)...

I am someone who used to be a strong positive thinker, and very confident. i am still somewhat confident to be honest, but as ive gotten older there have been stresses in my life and people around me e.g. marriages going wrong, being kicked off their college courses, hospitalisation, financial problems.

@2006kcl continuing my message: basically, i am a bit of a comforter for my friends/family, and i love being there for them, they mean a lot to me. my problem is, i feel like their negativity, complaining is rubbing off on me, and tbh, it's getting me down these days. i feel like i dont have a comforter myself, and ive realised that no one really asks me how i am. that doesnt bother me too much, but i dont know how to deal with feeling down and dealing with other people's negativity, plz help? x
