A few weeks ago I passed at 180 km/hr in front of approx 10 cops on their bikes, I did not wait to see if they wanted to chase me, I opened the throttle on my YZF R1 and lost them.

Cops hate sportbikes? Here is a thought, maybe some cops ride sportbikes too? Only, I try to keep it on the track. Funny story, I pulled over one of my wifes students on a GSXR 1000 for doing a wheelie and gave him a verbal warning becaus I understand how fun it can be. After I cut him loose he looped it on the way home destroyed the bike. I checked his myspace and laughed at the photos of the carnage.

@TheTrigger2000 they "try" because, what's your first response in a car and you're speeding and you see the police? slow down as fast as you can an hope they don't pull you over. they are seeing if you are going to get scared and slow down to pretend you werent speeding or give them a run for their money and they know it's a battle they won't win. it's happened three times to me the last two weeks, where i promptly sped up more and looked back to watch them sit. it's a scare tactic.

You misunderstand, the object isn't to get as close as possible to a motorcyle in a police car, what if you 'catch' the bike, you knock the rider off?
Standing orders are to keep a reasonable distance & keep control appraised of the changing location. This is so a helicopter can take over from the air with other units ahead of the bike.
Chasing a motorcycle leads to extremely high-speed pursuits which endanger the rider, the police & every other road user.

In Aug 08 I attended a RTC involving a motorcycle & a tree, so no other vehicle involved. The biker was in intensive care for 7 weeks at @ £9,000 a day, tying up a bed that could have been given to another patient. He eventually died after another 2 months on a ward.
His consultant explained the financial implications to countless other patients.
If he had lived he would have need 24/7 care. he left a wife/3 children.
and yes he did just kill him self... please sad story, but what im saying is that noone on road ways are hurt by them... if you wanna say with hospital things.. how about a person who has cancer... they take up space and just die. you cant compair a biker crashing and taking up medical bills to try and get better is and better then that of a person with cancer. or how about a person with downs or another syndrome... there life rate is way lower and take up way more money to help them...

By monopolising an intensive care bed (only in the bed due to exceeding the envelope of ability), & spending £0.5m of NHS funds, plus 7 operations - other people, including your cancer examples. had their lives impacted. In fact, patients were turned away from intensive care as the bed was taken by the biker - two died en-route to other hospitals.

@ColdRicki i was referring to the "ram him" comment. the car couldn't catch him but you are correct. choppers make me nervous, police cars are a joke if you keep yourself out of the situation of being on the wrong road at the wrong time with traffic lights and too much traffic to make running outweigh the consequences. pick where you ride and be with as many bikes as possible and there's not much they can do.

You misunderstand, the object isn't to get as close as possible to a motorcyle in a police car, what if you 'catch' the bike, you knock the rider off?
Standing orders are to keep a reasonable distance & keep control appraised of the changing location. This is so a helicopter can take over from the air with other units ahead of the bike.
Chasing a motorcycle leads to extremely high-speed pursuits which endanger the rider, the police & every other road user.

@lollygaggle that is a valid point, but i think he would have had a tough time trying to catch him if that is what he wanted to do. power to weight ratio, and handling put the officer at an extreme disadvantage, and i am betting this is a litre bike or bigger, capable of leaving the car in the dust at 200mph or better in the straights that are in the vid. not sure about kph equivalants, but you get the point. lose the car before the helo gets ya, then you're screwed.

@zomgbbqwth you can't ride one of these bikes and obey all laws. my plate flips up just for this reason. anything fun to do is illegal on a sportbike. cops hate us, we hate the cops, it's the way the world works... catch up with the times. i've had a gun pulled on me because someone else ran, passed me, and they pulled over the first bike they saw... me. had been riding four days. it was an eye opener to how much police hate bikers, and was the beginning for a mutual hatred that will go on...

well i have enjoyed well over 5 secs of fun on my bike, so its not just the 5 secs of fun even though i could die in 1! sec its the whole exp. of being a rider and having the freedom. there are way more car crashes that people die in then bikes... even when the people arent speeding more then 10-15 over... and you cant blame a 16 year old or any age for being like that... we live in a sick world.

In Aug 08 I attended a RTC involving a motorcycle & a tree, so no other vehicle involved. The biker was in intensive care for 7 weeks at @ £9,000 a day, tying up a bed that could have been given to another patient. He eventually died after another 2 months on a ward.
His consultant explained the financial implications to countless other patients.
If he had lived he would have need 24/7 care. he left a wife/3 children.
Just kill themselves?

You completely misunderstand the premise. By monopolising an intensive care bed (only in the bed due to exceeding the envelope of ability), & spending £0.5m of NHS funds, plus 7 operations - other people, including your cancer examples. had their lives impacted. In fact, patients were turned away from intensive care as the bed was taken by the biker - two died en-route to other hospitals.

You completely misunderstand the proportional relationship of bikes to cars.
The number of motorcycle crashes may seem smaller, but because of the much smaller numbers of bikes to cars, statistically speaking (in the UK), you are many times more likely to suffer a collision on a motorcycle & far worse levels of trauma at identical crash speeds.

I'm saying this because every stresses how riders indager there life so much by speeding... when really drunk drivers and cars speeding 15 over are way worse then riders going 130 in a 30 mph zone... all that happens is rider dies and nasty clean up or as u like to say a big medical bill...
I'm not arguing about the medical price to help fallen riders but stating that riders are not that big of a threat on the roadway as they are seen, but only a threat to their self.

i do wheelies, i also where my gear, leather, boots, a helmet, gloves, if i went down, but as when i do it, it is on a straight road with little to no traffic around and none infront obviously, the end result is similar to that of a moto gp wreck where you slide and maybe break a few bones.

@ColdRicki i was referring to the "ram him" comment. the car couldn't catch him but you are correct. choppers make me nervous, police cars are a joke if you keep yourself out of the situation of being on the wrong road at the wrong time with traffic lights and too much traffic to make running outweigh the consequences. pick where you ride and be with as many bikes as possible and there's not much they can do.
