1. You state gold has no intrinsic value.

This is incorrect as gold has certain chemical properties that make it a useful material for certain purposes. Most of all because it is so inert (unreactive).

That said, the value traders give to gold is based more on free market, supply and demand principles (it's kinda rare (supply) and considered pretty & valuable (demand)), and in this sense the value we give gold is invented and not intrinsic.
