To be honest, the real difference about performance from average to top stuff is barely ~ +10-15% only, but the price is twice more expensive.

What bullshit are you yakking? Doesn't mean you have quad cores then you'll get double the FPS. Hell, if that is so, I'll buy a Skulltrail with 2 QX9775's immediately. Then I'll get what, X8 the FPS? Crysis is programmed for multi-cores. But it does not mean the more cores you have the more FPS you'll get, it'll share the load.

Well i also have a qx9650, but 4gb of ddr2@1066 along with a 4870x2. The highest playable settings with this card is probably very high, 1920x1200 with no aa and af. So i can believe 3gtx280's can do 2560x1600 x8aa dx10 veryhigh at 50. i've seen benchies report 72fps at 1920 with vry high on 3x280's. Im not sure if it was in dx9 or dx10 but even if it was the former it should still be really high in dx10. Personally i believe maxi.Even though he is a bit of a fanboy lol.

i tried Crysis using 2x 4870X2 @ 2560x1600 and it is not playable.Actually it runs better using only one VGA

The reason you have so little FPS with 3 GTX280's is probably because there is a bottleneck with your CPU or even RAM. Depending on the specs of other components on your computer, this may be the case

this is the top resoulution for the 22 inch lcd screen, so its like 1920x1200 for the 24 inch or 1280x1024 for a 17 inch screen, like any other screens THIS IS THE HIGHEST IT GETS!

This is a shortcoming with so many benchmarks, especially those involving this game. In my experience, the two most demanding parts of Crysis are the final stages of "Exodus", which I believe is the bit you mention, and when the EXO-suit reappears at the end of "Reckoning", that part especially (with everything on very high+AA) brings virtually every system to its knees and multi-gpu cards suffer terribly. The fact remains, the game is appaulingly coded.

Totally agreed. Benchmark the most demanding levels on your games when testing out your cards. The one mission before entering the mountain, with KPA elites + miniguns, is a killer for my HD4870 on high (XP + 1920x1200) with 4AA. Everytime theres a tremor, the performance would hit the rock bottom. I just patched it last night, but I'm in agreement about the coding and don't think the patches will make much of a difference.
