  • 2:03 dom famularo on crystal meth

  • amazing drummer! Like it!

  • 1:26 Dom Famularo on acid

  • 1:21 Dom Famularo on drugs

  • knows the instrument has excellent technique, knows how the get the sounds he wants out of the various pieces of the instrument. love that cymbal riff at the beginning. top notch

    peace )

  • LOVE IT DOM! So fun to listen to you play.....especially with the volumn up!

  • Dom is a great example of uninhibited expression. What a creative an explosive solo - not simply an expose' of technique... I love it! Thx Dom

  • What a searing bore.

  • didn't know groucho marx played drums.....haaaaa

  • 18 Cobus/Barker/Jordison fan dislikes

  • For everyone out there criticizing any aspect of doms drumming you should know that he is "the drum teacher" . If you have taken a drum lesson odds are you are being taught methods he developed . He isn't old school, he just has feel. The people many idolize as the greatest drummers now, literally spend weeks working and learning with this man. You can take lessons with him in NY if you can ever find an opening in his schedule.

  • god i almost just shed a tear... amazing...

  • please tell me what band he played with??

  • He may not be the best drummer, but he certainly is the coolest! You can se on his face that hes not only feeling the beat, He IS the beat!!

  • He's not even that good...

  • @Fartermcfart67 NOT THAT GOOD!??!? Dude, you on CRACK?

  • @Fartermcfart67 fuck you ! he's one of the best drummers out there ! almost nobody can play double bass as fast as he can , and he's an old guy !!!!

  • @Fartermcfart67 He would take you to school.

  • @Fartermcfart67 hes actually very good in technique, but he isnt known for his drumming hes known for his teaching, he is one of the best instructors out there, he knows and has developed many techniques

  • 18 people didnt like this? How do you spell RETARD? Dom you are the man.Chops and showmanship!

  • i'm sorry, i can't tell if this dude is joking or not.... i just don't see it.

  • I didn't enjoy it at all.. just noise.. if i had to listen something abstract, i'd rather listen to terry bozzio..

  • @lucas266 Who TAUGHT Bozzio? Yup.

  • Cool. This is Igor's teacher. Nice

  • and this.is why hes WORLDS.drum ambassador.

  • who is barker??, and i am 80 yrs old, and a buddy rich fan. he is dead if you didn't know.

  • i just bought that higher 18" china he's playing, best china cymbal i have EVER played

  • @crimn youre either a jordison/barker fan to not like this

  • @timotdrums1 ...or a portnoy/richardson fan.

  • went to his drum clinic last night. AMAZING!!

  • saw him in person at a band clinic in Victoria, B.C. he is just amazing. he had like a 15 minute solo going and every single part was amazing. I especially like how he plays his 18' chinese symbol, and his rides when he hits them on the side.

  • 3:42 shit just got real!!!!

  • This Guy is Wild & I love it! :D

  • The guy can play but that was a boring solo

  • I just noticed he has 2 crashes, 2 hi-hat pairs, 2 splashes, 2 chinas, and 2 rides

  • This show was in São Paulo in Brazil in a festival called Batuka! Brasil International Drum Fest!

Dom Famularo played there 07/18/2010 with John Riley (EUA), Fernando Amaro (BR) and Christiano Rocha (BR). I was there and was a great show. He's Very Good! And i could get his autograph.

  • he's torturing the drumkit

  • @csillagasz what do you mean by that??

  • @elrojomuerto6x he's a great drummer with a very unique style, but some of his motions are fulminant and a little bit aggressive, he's playing like a punisher :)

  • @csillagasz that's the difference with old school drummers and actual ones

once there was feeling (which might work despite a decrease in precision)

    now there's cold technique

  • i don't see the fuss over this guy or his solo. he is good, but not great.

  • @crimn are a 13 year old barker fan??

  • not normal...

  • un saluto da Maitreya Sorrentino.

  • hes awsome . sam him play 2 days ago. met him 3 times.

  • All of Dom's solo are finesse solos- even his chopsy solos are finesse solos!! incredibly

musical, Dom's musical influences and his repect for tradition, particularly the jazz tradition, are always evident in his playing-

He always delivers with style and panache!

check out this solo by a huge Dom Fam fan and the author of

"The Book of Funk Beats- grooves for snare,

    bass and hihat"

    search:

    "DRUM SOLO IN 3 MOVEMENTS"

    on YouTube

  • Rockin the tie!

  • AMBASSADORS DRUMHEADS?

  • That was INCREDIBLE!!!!! Amazing solo!

  • that's a BIG-ASS china

  • 1:26 FUCK YEAH

  • I give that 10 stars, but it only goes to 5. That is musicality for real.

  • Is this daniel adairs grandpa? :D:D

  • He is soooo strange!!

  • i saw him live yeeeears ago. really amazing. someone asked if he played heel up or heel down but he never got around to answering it!!!! anyone know?

  • @mschmidt163 with dom i would imagine its a feel thing with him. hes such an emotion based drummer. He is a morller technician but i would imagine he goes with whatever works based upon the situation,

  • haha oops moeller

  • 5 Stars definitely.

  • he looks like a pedo

  • pretty awesome, he came to my school once upon a time it was cool shit

  • i love how he started playing open handed, and now he totally slays at it

  • JJJeeebaniutki dziadek ;-)

  • i like this !!! AMAZING !!!

  • amazing its sound like double base but it is only the right foot

  • ermm hes using two feet

  • everybody just seems to think that if it's an older person with fast foot technique, they must just be using single foot. haha.

  • yeah!!!!

  • The Dom!...

  • I had no idea Phil Jackson was that sick at set

  • I love Dom, I`ve seen lot of videos with him... He is great... Solo - very nice... It`s very great with balance... One of the most awesome solos I`ve ever heard.... THANX FOR YOU DOM!!!

  • Maybe the best drum educator in the world! Gotta love Dom.

  • this is not a drum solo. this is a story told on drums! famularo owns!

  • It is a solo. It is played on drums. It is a drumsolo :D

  • exelente cuando volvera a victoria tamaulipas mexico!!!

  • Great!

  • Bunch of retarded comments from 'drummers' filled with complexes 'cause they'll never have 1/110th what this guy has.

    Dom explains everything.

  • well said

  • I was at this. He gave one of the best motivational speeches I have ever been in attendance of. Before he played he explained how much he loves his new HHX setup, and the benefits of playing open handed. This isn't a conventional rock solo, nor should it be compared to one.

  • whoa, his arm at 1:26 looked awesome

  • i met him at a lassiter high school drum camp he is super cool to talk to

  • 2:28

his double bass drum stroke roll is amazing :o

  • i was talkin to this guy at drumfest last year but didnt know who he was then lol. i didnt even know he was famous, wish id got his autograph now

  • fastest feet ive ever heard so damn hard and dynamic...seen him twice, but he has the joe cocker syndrome!!!! when he does his stuff he looks like a fokkin retard, but hey what the fuck.

  • he has the skills for sure, but i dont like lots of the stuff he does...like the first 20 secs was just weird lol...prolly just not my style...he's got mad skills tho =D

  • Haha i like his china :)

  • this to me sounds more like a regurgatation of an incredible amount of time practicing rudiments, looks more like a circus act. great tecnique though. you wanna hear a drummer that plays music on his kit check out gavin harrison and dave weck!!

  • this guy is the man

  • la verdad es impresionante como toca dom..genio total

  • I cant play with long sleeve sweaters

  • he can do phlams duble stroke role and single stroke roles with his feet

  • He's flipping awesome. I had no idea he was such a bad-ass. I'd only seen his instructional videos.

  • old school drummer groove feel dynamicks all the things that add up to being a good muso brin g back feel groove and dynamicks please check my channel out for some feel groove and soul

  • This guy has serious OCD (Obsessive-Compulsive Drumming)

  • Very Good!!! but it's only tecnique... and the music?? where is ittt??? drums is an instrument to be played not a toy!!! dear dude, took this video and u will see a guy playing drums... bye

  • What hell are you talking about? He's making music... But maybe your ears are way too bad to realize.

  • You know, if you were a real drummer you would understand this IS music.

  • Man, he surprised me with his feet! They're solid and fast.

  • no doubt, he has some amazingly fast feet.

  • I still love this video! Never gets old!

  • i was offered an hour lesson with him for $90. im still thinking about it

  • that was okay. his timing is a little off though

  • how can his timing be off? he isnt' playing against any backing so, there isn't really a pulse, it could be in any time signature.

  • Even if you are not playing against a metronome you could still be off. Like if i was playing a standard rock-beat and accidentally played a flam between my bassdrum and hi-het and my snare and hi-hat

  • playing a flam would't put you out of time, because if the main note is on the doown beat it's still in time.

  • i saw this guy hes amazing

  • he has an awesome double-bass ... and is a very good drummer in my opinion, though he seems to be a bit a classic for a drummer .... hmmm

  • great!

  • Dom Famularo is my best friends dad! I've known him since I was like 6!. He is the nicest guy you'll ever meet.

  • I think he is the best drummer...ever..

  • He is the best drummer ever.

  • And the coolest. Just look how happy he is!:L Mind you if I could play drums like that I'd never stop smiling either!

  • @akiziele0

you cannot say there's one best drummer... he's very good, but there are many others who are really good, too.

(sorry for my bad english, I'm from Germany ^^)

  • When I saw this MonacoRocha post, I was intrigued by Msmithjazz's reference. So I visitied that MonacoRocha drum solo mentioned, and yes it was intensely repetitive, nonmusical, irritating, and ego driven. Then I noticed the small number of comments on all his videos, yet 20 or more on each had rated them very low (in other words- the truth). I assumed the delete button was working overtime on his channel. My goodness, jealousy is a terrible thing isn't it?

  • Hey DOM You are 100 % BULLSHIT.. Finesse my ass !!! If there was such a thing as The Drum Police ,they would give you Life, Maybe The Death Sentence. And when are you going to get rid of those stupid ties you where.. You STINK !!! Heeeeeeeeee !! ?

  • MonacoRocha should learn to play as cute as he talks. I realize he was once a KOSA hire, but I've seen numerous mistakes in this business. I viewed one of his drumset videos, and it was barely high school level. And this authentic world music angle is as phony as they come. Yesterday I watched a REAL Brazilian star laugh at Monaco's feeble attempts. This whole exercise of jumping from video to video talking like a fool is just another poser's way of playing small time trying to be big time.

  • why you are so amazed by this drum solo if everyone of you could play this?????

  • Since when should people be amazed by drum solo if it can't be played ..???

so I understand that , to you , a good drum solo is one that can't be played ??

  • He really loves what he does, which is brilliant.

I saw Dom in a music shop, and he blew me away there..

  • He loves his cymbals.

I saw him live in a tiny little music shop and I could barely hear afterward.

  • he use Mapex

  • Great double base roll, but otherwise

    nothing to right home about.

  • Haha, chill out man. :) I said "this guy is clearly really good." And I never said I was an amazing drummer...

  • why do people have there chinas like on a wierd angle lol??

  • Because you want to hit the "top" of it, not the side, for the best sound. It's just easier to hit that sweet spot when it's on an angle like that.

  • i'm just wondering the same thing.... very strange position...

  • This guy is clearly really good, but I don't like this solo. A lot of these guys get really fast with their feet on the double bass and abuse that during solos. A little is fine, and it impresses people who aren't drummers, but I know that that's dime-a-dozen drum playing.

  • wat drum kit does he use ?

  • No, you are not :)

  • Am i the only one that thought it was a bit boring :b xD . ? Neil Peart !!

  • 0:00 to 4:22 haha specially 1:16, 1:30 and 4:00

  • I had dinner with the guy about 10 years ago in Vancouver,I am tall at 6'4" hes like 7' tall man what a massive heavy hitting drummer

  • HOLY SHIT 1:22-1:40

  • There is so much musicality to what Dom does, to add bass, piano and horns would be redundant.

In a word this guy is genius.

  • He Had a drum clinic at a guitarworks in my area. HE WAS AWSOME

  • buddy rich said one time "someimes less is more"

  • man i just took a clinic with this dude. it was the best. he transforms your thoughts about drumming.

  • does he play open handed?

  • King

  • lol i love that guy :p

  • Dom's good at teaching and giving classes, but his limited studio experience shows he is not up to par with the likes of Gadd, Elvin, or Roach just to name a few. Please don't compare Dom to these people. Dom is a drummer, the above mentioned are musicians first and drummers second.

  • You may be right about the musician part but his solos are sooo tasteful and full of finesse and I tend to forget about his studio experience. Take Dennis Chambers for example he has a black hole of a pocket and he has been on albums that my parents grew up listening to but everybody loves him for his chops and fast solos....

  • There is indeed a difference between musician and drummer, but isn't there a difference between certain musicians? Dom is a musician. The fact that he doesn't just pound skins and do complex shuffles, doesn't make him just another drummer. If you actually watch him play, damn, he puts 100% of his soul into it man. It's insane.

  • They know how to do all that difficult stuff, but they don't need to let everybody know. They know. that's what matters - go to the olympic games for drummers all you "best drummers in the world" - it's goin' the wrong way. cheers

  • He may be a great teacher, a wonderful technician and so on... i know. BUT: DRUMMIN' is no competition. Drummin is not about who is faster, louder or more artistique. It's about music - all these youtube drummers, havein' thousands of drums, pedals and cymbals - what are you doing? why are max roach, tony williams, buddy rich, steve gadd, vinnie collaiuta and all the others considered to be the idols of zillions of drummers? Because what the do is not playin' drums, THEY PLAY MUSIC.

  • here's what I think:

is there a single video on youtube, where famularo plays with a band? He's only playin' drum battles or solos or maybe clinics. NOT A SINGLE VIDEO ABOUT BANDPLAYING. NO GROOVE.

  • jajajaja la cara que pone cuando toca es genial... tuve el placer de ir a verlo en una clinica y la verdad te re motiva a seguir tocando y estudiando bateria. un MAESTRO el viejo

  • may con el tren

  • he coaches Igor Falecki now he will surely become as good as the master :)

  • love the dynamics

  • buddy rich makes dom look like a beginner

    /watch?v=EfGd53pmiZs&feature=related

  • I bet Dom would make YOU look like a beginner...

  • word

  • /watch?v=EfGd53pmiZs&feature=related

    haha, so much better

  • /watch?v=0mn83f4mZ0s

    saludos .

    gracias por el video .

  • damn... his good!

  • The tonal quality of his cymbals are excellent.

Does he use heel-toe for his double pedal? That sounded stupidly fast at points without very much leg movement.

I underestimated this guy, he really is an exceptional drummer.

  • He's a natural.

  • lmfao

  • exactly that....

  • I love how Dom just enjoys himself while playing, makes you want to drum right in the instant you see it.

  • Even being a metal drummer, he's an inspiration, seeing him play at a clinic was brilliant :)

  • so true! i think regardless of style and even maybe instrument this guy will leave you breathless hes just a musical inspiration to everyone... and seems to be the nicest guy to walk the planet! ha

  • And he has a big ol smile on his face all the time when he's playing, and not!

    :)

  • wow, how did he do his thing at 2:29. He did a buzz roll and pull out his stick. Cool!

  • amazing... the sounds are not that good.. i guess it is due to limitation of the website.
