Personally I love the accents, especially on "cooostard" but the precise diction has drawn me to a few flaws in the writing. What has Donald Duck got to do with English country life? Or Dracula for that matter?

Ray Davies wrote it when the 'Preservation Movement' was taking off in the mid 60's. Some think he wrote it as a 'homage to declining way of life' supporting the preservationists, some thought his sense of humour prompted him to write it as humorous critique of the movement. However it seems now to be a NIMBY anthem yet it also sums up a reactionary point of view to progress and the 21st century. Odd that since the start of preservation industry Britain has lost its place in the world.
