Might also be good to have a fire going, and then set up your bed of coals in front of the fire and the grid over that... just so you have a source of more coals in case it isn't hot enough. Also, an active fire and hot chimney should draw the cooking odours up the chimney, if that's an issue. Great idea, though! Too bad homes nowadays are increasingly being built without traditional wood fireplaces.
Was it good? The POV style is a bit awkward, and creepy, it's like watching a horror movie. In fact, that would be cool, like a horror movie about a cooking show.
