  • What he said!

Movies will never be the same without those great actors.

  • Most of these great actors had passed away, but still their names and their great films are shining for ever.

  • Additional note:

A Mule for the Marquesa (1964) is a novel by Frank O'Rourke. The film The Professionals (1966) was based on that book. After the release of the movie, new editions of the novel were issued under the title The Professionals.

  • Great movie, great actors. Thanks for putting it up here. Love that theme.

For any die hard western fans out there:

John Benteen wrote a series of books about a character named Neil Fargo. Fargo was based on Lee Marvin's character in The Professionals.

    Excellent western adventure series.

Set in the early 1900's. Fargo has the Rough Riders hat and the pure white hair, and an unusual array of weaponry.

    Recommeded western reading.

    Cheers: Jaq.

  • maurice jarre is one of the best composers. very underrated

  • One of the best westerns! MJ made fabulous music in the 60s! Great cast, perfect western with Lee Marvin, Woody Strode, Burt Lancaster, etc...and of course gorgeous Claudia Cardinale :)

  • Agreed, though it is not necessary to restrict its impact to 'westerns'. Its hard to think of which current actors could carry off the performances of this stellar cast. Is there an actor today that has the grittiness of Lee Marvin? Or the physical presence of Burt Lancaster? Today producers are more interested in stars who can generate box office revenues and thus offer us a parade of shallow, pretty boy types who smile and prance for the cameras. Where's William Holden when you need him?

  • Jarre brought the goods, all right....did the same kind of excellent job for another Lancaster movie, "The Train."

  • Thank you Maurice Jarre. Epic music the film going public won't ever forget.

  • R.I.P. Maurice Jarre.

  • @Baldenlong77 He has a website in myspace but it wasnt being developed too well i dont think he was too well there is a films of david lean club in myspace but the clubs are temporarily shut off

  • Maurice Jarre at his best. Wonderful soundtrack, thanks.

  • more of Mexican Revolution/post-modern Western but what the heck, it stars Lee Marvin, Woody Strode, Burt Lancaster, Jack Pallance & Robert Ryan; Oh and Claudia Cardinale---HOW can you go wrong??
