  • Hi jesse.

How long does you tubes last in the peavey?? .. If you amp gets so warm the EL84 and PT must be giving a lot of heat..

The classic 30 should have a screen voltage of ~ 325V and is biased at ~ 24.5 mA which should be class AB at around 66% dissipation according to weber bias schedule.. It could be a resistor in the bias circuit is a bit old and you get a less negative grid bias, hence more dissipation at idle..

  • great demo, next time use a mic

  • Great review!! Really enjoyed that. Peavey stuff is always flawed somehow, and I never need to look far, but this looks like one of their more successful disasters. You did get some good sound out if it, which is more than most of their stuff is capable of. Here's hoping you don't get any third degree burns or witness spontaneous combustion mid-gig. Good luck with your very promising career.

  • Phillip Pirrip?

  • Actually the boost switch gives it more gain. It becomes apparent when you crank it up.

  • Great demo buddy! I have the same amp, bought it a year ago. Mine doesn't get THAT hot...After many hours, neither the chrome jack of my cable is heating, nor the grill that protects the tubes. It's quite hot, but still I can touch the back panel without getting burnt or sth.

  • hello noel redding!

  • Damn! For how long you be playing?

  • If I had that hair.............I would play like the gods; also nice demo!

  • Een van de beste demo's die ik ooit heb gezien, hoe lang speel je al?

  • Great video. Very professional with the editing, made it very enjoyable to watch. Probably going to get this amp and make my jump into tubes.

  • Dude , you sure have the Brian May thing going on with the hair ,, hehe . Nice review :)

  • Great job on the video. i'm in doubt about a Peavey Classic 30 and the Vox AC30VR. which one do you think is better?

    Greetings from Brazil

  • I'd like to introduce your hair to a set of scissors, but we don't always get what we want...

  • 4.29 that was perfect buddy guy chicago blues...and these amps are also perfect for rockabilly and rock and roll...... leave the metal alone...it is booooring..!

  • Mine doesn't get THAT hot. It might be an issue varyung from amp to amp. Good review, great amp, quite versatile (although quite a bit on the vintage side), but, BE CAREFUL! LOTS OF MIDS! (might be unwanted -it's a matter of taste)

  • Bit longer hair, a twin neck SG, frilly white and gold suite and a Marshall, viola, Jimmy Page!

  • this look like homework

  • Is this a joke?

  • The new design turned all the knobs so they are facing you. I was thinking "how can you possibly have the amp that loud in that room!".

  • Aww man you showed all the settings for the amp except for the outro jam!! Do you know what the settings are??

  • Haircut? Screw that. Them's trophy locks.

  • are you 12?

  • get a hair cut you fucking hippy

  • @plasticspastic201 Ah be quiet!

  • @Thermionman1970 shut it hippy

  • @plasticspastic201 You wouldn't say that to -say- Slash, would you?

  • @rustinpieces slash is shit. of course i would say it to him. fucking LP playing goon.

  • haha. This is cute

  • Your mom needs to cut your hair.

  • @Bflatest Be quiet! Heard enough of that crap years ago!

  • Is this good for Alternative rock to Punk rock... ?

  • this amp can be a little tricky at a gig. There's no stand-by switch. It only has one light on it & none on the footswitch, so if anybody monkeys around with it on break(kill all of the drummers) & you're a minute later than everyone else getting back on stage & you launch into Hurt so Good & it sounds like a surf guitar, You'll miss the indicator lamps I promise.

  • like gary moore you never use the last finger =)

nice playing and nice amp-i've got and it's awesome!!!

  • It's Arlo Guthrie haha.

  • Just play man and don't shit much more :)

  • does anyone know how it would cope with fx pedals...most of mine are high/ish quality and all are analogue EHX, Dunlop etc.

  • An all Valve amp That sounds better than an all tube amp. I think I will start calling tubes valves like our friends across the pond. Seriously Thanks for the demo. Try to eliminate the sound of the pick scraping the strings. Cheers

  • The boost is terrible the amp is way better on it's own

  • how loud is this amp?? im looking for an affordable tube amp that is decently loud, i have to play a semi large gig and i want to be heard any imput?

  • @Whofan95 For a 30W amp - VERY loud. Small gigs (100/200) it should be fine! Larger gigs (200/500 ) it can be mike'd up and routed through a PA. In small clubs put it on a chair or bar stool(s) Make SURE your amp is secure! Your sound will be projected above the audience and you will be heard clearly. In large venues Keep the band grouped in the center and your sound will be tighter, as it will be easier for band members to hear each otherclearly.Greetings Michael

  • @Whofan95 Yeah, it can handle pretty much every "working man" situation. I've never had problems with it's volume. If the gig is too big, they certainly will have a huge PA system. Volume wise it's great. Even if you need cleans - when it breaks up a lil bit, you can manage the amount of saturation with your guitar's vol knob, also there's a lot of definition in the saturated notes. Just turn the post up and pre down, and you're clean.

  • @TaffyRaphie

na mate, the hotter them tubes get the more the amp will sing. I heard stevie ray vaughan use to leave his amps on for weeks before he used them, tube amps were made to be drivin loud and hot!

  • Great review and really nice amp! although I doesn't understand the system with PRE- and POST gain?? can someone explain me how it works? and isn't there any standby switch??

  • @TheYes95 The PRE GAIN Controls the input volume level of the Lead channel and the POST GAIN Controls the OVERALL volume level of the Lead channel. The final level adjustment should be made after the desired sound has been achieved.

    Hope this helps - Michael.

  • I thought this had a fan in it to cool it down?

  • You're right about the pilot light being a skewed decade from the rest of the amp's style, lol! Mine does have a chrome power switch, hmm. You play well enough so that the amp sounds great in "boost" mode; but with me, I call it the "mud" mode...but then again, I could play thru Hendrix's rig, if I could go back to 1967, and make IT sound like mud,so anyway...xD Good review.

  • Nice and funny review, funny hair too!

  • Hopefully you know your way around your amp before you play a gig with it, so I don't see the problem with the white text against the chrome. Other than that good review.

  • Very nice review vid! I like it. What are you using to record the sound? Please continue good review! Greetings from Japan.

  • @mkauchi Hi there, I use the inbuilt microphones of my Sony HD cam. The sound is reproduced very accurately - it's the amps that give the sound quality. Guitar On! Greetings Michael.

  • Great video demo! BTW, can you have Jesse K show us how to play the rhythm guitar portion to the song called "Number One" by Patrice Rushen please?

  • Great review, i have this amp and it gets so hot it keeps me warm in winter- whats the black guitar with 'Thunder' on the truss rod cover?

  • @dontwaituplove It's a 1982 Westone Thunder 1 - an early hand finished example- before they went cheap. It's an excellent guitar - but it must be pre 1983 or they are crap.

  • good job! nice tone!

  • Very good review. I've given my Classec 30 a rest for a while. I play mostly classic country and rock and have tons of amps. Currently using a Crate V-50 tube amp, really like the Buck Owens sound I'm getting out of it. The varies band stands I set up on require a lot of tweeking and this Crate is working for me right now. But all this is subject to change. Very good picking on your part, keep it up and thanks for the post.....

  • @MrWeedpatch

Thank you for the positive feedback.

The Crate is a great amp and is well designed for tweaking.

Although I filmed and directed this review it's actually Jesse K. - a young 16 year old Dutch guitarist who is in front of the camera. Using my experience as a professional guitartist (for most of my life), I have helped him with his guitar playing etc.. I hope you enjoy his review of another amp.

  • Thaxs. More reviews coming soooooon!! :-)

    Rock and Roll

  • I got this amp too and I have to say It's a very nice one. Loud enough to play on stages and it creates lovely sounds. Thanks for this nice review.

  • Nice review man, that made me want to buy it.

  • I got it! Cool.
