  • Bit of class, and no mistake. Doesn't matter what side of the political bed you lie on, this is stirring stuff.

  • Is it called Song of the Plains, or O Fields, My fields? Cause there are vids with that and then there is this one...

  • @Tiberiumfreek It has many names

  • Gives me the chills

  • Does the Russian Army have a successor to the Red Army Choir?

  • They must be shitting their pants.

  • well i'll say it remember the great red army remember comrade stalin--was it brutal yes but look in the western mirror!!

  • In the sixties movie "The Russians are Coming, The Russians are Coming" This song was played at the end as the islanders escorted the once stranded Russian submarine out of the bay. For a 1960's comedy it had some stirring music to go with it.

  • Oh, Soviets, if you were alive today the world would embrace you all. Take a look at the Wall Street protests. You were before your time...

  • For some reason this song always makes me think of the great Soviet Physicists such as Landau, Kapitza and Ginzburg. Creativity is indeed a tradition in the Soviets and Russians....Even when economy is not that great...

  • It's a great song. Doesn't have anything to do with politics.I heard it encouraged the soldiers in the Second World War in their fight against the Nazis.

  • Epic song! Greetings from Poland!

  • How on earth did Comments on this song get turned into a discussion of he Kurile Islands? Why can't people just appreciate the music without ruining it with their incredibly puerile assessments of affairs too big for you?

  • @SpectatorAlius sadly most of people are jerks

  • aint this called polyushka polye? or o field my field

  • @Trillios yes it is

  • When I get backed up at work, I hear this song in my head and I push through it. Can't explain it.

  • Comrade Pedersen brought me here ;)

  • @CaptainSpork7

    Comrade Pidor brought you here...

  • They used this song in Zemeckis' Cast Away. Great, powerful piece. Like all military songs featuring russian choir.

  • In short, why are we watching this video? It is because we admire the unimaginable sacrifice that the people of Russia contributed to defeating Nazism. Is that not so? My only point has been that they did not fight for Stalin. They fought to defend their homes and families. But it seems inequality and the same capitalistic nationalism and brainwashing has now taken hold in Russia today. It makes me sad, because I love Russian culture.

  • [Cont from below.] In short, if humans are egotistical nationalists who seek their self-interest, how is communism possible? Yet present capitalism, as you say, is also no sustainable since so many are disenfranchised. Corporations try every means to brainwash people. That has become what Lenin called the 'means' of state power. We humans are impatient. We want the millennium to come in our lifetime. It won't. The Singularity will come first. Anyway, I prefer Robert Owen. He was a great man.

  • [Continued from post below.] He told them 'no,' Russia must, he said, go through the agony of capitalistic development. Why? Because it is the socialization of production that _produces_ the working class, which gradually becomes large and powerful enough to throw off the capitalists. But two points. The assumption here is the WC acts on its self interest. If so, how is 'from each according to his talents...." possible? 2nd, based nationalism has proved stronger. Look at the breakup of Yugo.

  • Nazi music was cheeky and lame by comparison. So much for Aryan supremacy.

  • We were once allies. Don't forget.

Although I don't see much 'cool' about the USSR. I'm not a flag waver. But this music is Russian, not 'Soviet.' Russians fought in WWII to defend their country, not for communism.

Thankfully, now Russian and the US are at least potential friends.

  • @ytdsgdjgfueyxn537 i tend to disagree. this was written and song by pro-communist nationalist russians

  • @CCCP1USSR Your home page says you live in Moscow. Is it cold in Moscow now? Anyway, as for racial equality, I'm with you. But communism and nationalism are irreconcilable. Both are morally unacceptable systems. My friend, don't live in a dream. Face reality. Go to school. Get an education. Save your money. Learn to invest wisely. Study hard. If you are ignorant, people will manipulate you. Follow the Golden Rule, but protect yourself. Be a gentleman at all times.

  • @ytdsgdjgfueyxn537 communism is the best system if it worked in real life as well as it does on paper. you gotta admit that at least. true it hasn't really worked anywhere yet but we can always keep trying to make it work, and way capitalism hasn't worked out that well anywhere either.

  • @ToLegitToQuit141 My friend, yes, present capitalism does not work. The rich give money to politicians. But Communism sinks the ship to kill the rats. Humans are selfish, base animals. Our only hope is to raise the rule of law above us and ensure that this rule is corruupted by money. Also, do not confuse beautiful Russian music with communism. If you love Russian music, love it. But most Russians now are not communists... In fact, I worry they may become a capitalist dictatorship.

  • @ytdsgdjgfueyxn537 not only does present capitalism give all the money to the politicians but it gives money to the rich and keeps it out of the hands of the poor. Why do you think you're able to buy a chocolate bar for $1.25? The price of the chocolate it self+the cost of transport+the cost of growing the coco beans+the labor for making it and packaging it. The only way these companies make money is because they pay their workers shit all. Please watch the story of stuff. (with an unbiased eye)

  • @ToLegitToQuit141 What you say about capitalism is definitely on the mark. The corporations have a choke-hold on the government, and the rich capitalist nations dominate the developing world when they can. Whether communism is possible in view of human nature is a different question. Marx was silent about the nature of communist society. Also, after Marx's death, Engels was asked by the Russian Narodniks (sp?) whether Russia could 'jump' directly into socialism. Engels said 'no.'

  • @ytdsgdjgfueyxn537 well i dont think humans are "egotistical nationalists" perhaps some are but thats because of how they were raised by their parents and by society. Everyone will have a different view of the world depending on how they are raised. We just need to teach our children and young ones differently, to not just be a mindless consumer-but to think for themselves and try to change the world for the better and take the initiative, do something worthwhile and lasting, not just play CoD

  • @ToLegitToQuit141 I agree with everything you said, my dear friend. But I live in Japan. Russia must return the Northern islands to Japan. Japanese love Russian music and culture. But the Northern Islands are Japanese territory.

  • @ytdsgdjgfueyxn537 I disagree with that my friend. It may have at one point been your territory but they won them fair and square. If you can't hold onto your territories others will come and take them for themselves. That's how the world works my friend. By all means go ahead and declare war on Russia and fight for the islands; win them back if you really want em that badly. (I'm not trying to sound like i agree with everything that Russia does, sure, I'm a fan of Russia, but their not perfect)

  • @ToLegitToQuit141 So, you are a Social Darwinist? If so, then it follows logically that, if the Nazis had conquered Russia, they would have the 'right' to slaughter all Russians. Let me be plain, sir. It is not in the national interest of Russia to keep those islands. If Russia returned the islands, Russia and Japan would conclude a peace treaty, and Russia would have a powerful ally, and the friendship of the US. I like Mr Medyedev. But his policy on the islands is foolish. He is too young.

  • @ytdsgdjgfueyxn537 When it comes to territory, power and control usually yes. I say usually because with the territory and power part if you're sucking up to the other side just for money and power as opposed to necessity then I think it's a betrayal of your fellows which I loath. As to it being "right" or "wrong", to massacre the Russians if they'd fallen to the Nazis well right and wrong are in the eye of the beholder - they are completely objective attributes.(Though it would have hindered

  • @ytdsgdjgfueyxn537 the Germans because they would have lost a significant source of manpower + that would probably infuriate any survivors or if there are non than possibly other countries).

Why is it not in the national interests of Russia to hold the islands? I don't understand why either of the countries want it except that they both claim it's part of their lands. Or are there large deposits of resources on them?

  • @ytdsgdjgfueyxn537 comrade, i have an education and i am a soldier for my motherland. all my life i have dreamed of fighting under her banner, and although it is no longer communist, it is still my home and i am ready and willing to give my life for her

  • @CCCP1USSR

patriotism is the last refuge of a scoundrel....

humanity is still stained with war, because of howling dogs with rabies like you

  • Thank god for google translater... otherwise i would have no idea what these russian people are saying. :)

  • @CarDBOrdKiLLEr

  • This song makes me wanna be a comunist!

  • @FriedChickenofDeath6 Don't, put your faith in Absolute Monarchy instead.

  • @Just4Th3Lulz No, man! I don't think it's a good idea. Did you see what happened to the proletaries in Absolute Monarchy? They were completely fucked up! So they fucked the king! :S

  • @FriedChickenofDeath6 yeah but communism is satan's goal, and democracy is just a way to get total idiots into office. Besides, all you gotta do is treat the proletarians right so you don't get fucked up.

  • @Just4Th3Lulz Yeah, you got a point, and I really hate Capitalism. But I don't think Comunism is Satan's goal. I'm an atheist. Like the great majority of the Comunism founders :)

  • @FriedChickenofDeath6 I'm a lolwutism, I believe my own religion for the lulz of it.

  • Unite Red and Black forces to defeat our common enemy.

  • I'm a capitalist, yet, when I listen to these wonderful songs, I feel so Communist. Not saying this is a bad thing, and it's the same thing when I listen to German military songs, I feel so National Socialist. I love it.

  • @NCOProductions

  • HAIL MOTHER RUSSIA!

  • Russian music is so bloody epic. Pity Russia was so bloody.

  • The Soviet Union is perhaps the coolest adversary America ever encountered. I tip my hat.

  • @MrJohn2010

The millions of people who worked to death in their slavecamps disagree.

  • @MrJohn2010 The coolest indeed. I actually miss it.

  • @amvvideos Anyone who doesn't regret the passing of the Soviet Union has no heart. Anyone who wants it restored has no brains. -Vladimir Putin

  • @MrJohn2010 or as Walter Sobchak would have put it: worthy fuckin' adversary.

  • My great grand dad sang this while he drove a T-35/85 =)

  • @russiarolesLOL But in soviet russia...tank drives you?!

  • Greetings comrades! fellow proletarian of the world! join up in the effort for a Crimson Earth! help free your country from the oppressors! we must rise up for our Union of Nations now! Workers of the world unite! =)

  • I applaud your wisdom, comrade! The working masses of the world are, even as we speak, rising up from their oppression to triumph in the glory of the Marxism-Leninism!

  • @CCCP1USSR

be careful with this ;) history can't forget...

  • does any1 have lyrics for this song i love it but rly cant find any lyrics anywhere...

  • This magnificent music is also exciting, powerful, and majestic! I am a 12th generation American, but perhaps my soul is Russian.

  • This music is my all time favorite. For a very good version of "Song of the Plains", try to find "Meadowlands" by Stanley Black. He recorded "Meadowlands" on two different LP albums, or CD's. "France/Russia", 2007 and "RUSSIA" , 1966. If you want to see a video of Olympic ice skating with this Stanley Black version plug in: Berezhnaya Skiharulidze 2001 Worlds Short Program Meadowland on YouTube.

  • Music just does not get any better than this.

  • long live the revolution comrades

  • world in conflict. War for free !

  • this is goood. this song is also in world in conflict!

  • You mean the video game 'World in Conflict'?!

  • Although the version used in the "Soviet Bear" trailer has a stronger chorus, as well as more brass.

    This version's still nice, though.

  • Yeah, both versions of this song sound great. This version does fit a few games I know. Regardless of all that, it is a beautiful song.
