In the sixties movie "The Russians are Coming, The Russians are Coming" This song was played at the end as the islanders escorted the once stranded Russian submarine out of the bay. For a 1960's comedy it had some stirring music to go with it.
For some reason this song always makes me think of the great Soviet Physicists such as Landau, Kapitza and Ginzburg. Creativity is indeed a tradition in the Soviets and Russians....Even when economy is not that great...
It's a great song. Doesn't have anything to do with politics.I heard it encouraged the soldiers in the Second World War in their fight against the Nazis.
How on earth did Comments on this song get turned into a discussion of he Kurile Islands? Why can't people just appreciate the music without ruining it with their incredibly puerile assessments of affairs too big for you?
In short, why are we watching this video? It is because we admire the unimaginable sacrifice that the people of Russia contributed to defeating Nazism. Is that not so? My only point has been that they did not fight for Stalin. They fought to defend their homes and families. But it seems inequality and the same capitalistic nationalism and brainwashing has now taken hold in Russia today. It makes me sad, because I love Russian culture.
