  • Look at the list of players in that band... WOW! It's like a who's who of the jazz world, circa mid-1960s. If it isn't enough that Wes was a genius himself, look who he had supporting him.

It would have been amazing to be a "fly on the wall" at that session.

  • WES,any other questions...

  • wes you genius

  • Lol my friend asked me: "how do you find these awesome Wes Montgomery playlists?" and i told him: "Every Wes Montgomery playlist is awesome."

  • @MsMarc1234: You can say that again! I went through a period of being obsessed with Wes' music, and listened to it almost continuously for year or two. Never got tired of it, the way I would the music of most any other artist. The "fever" passed, but my love of his music remains. The very first jazz record I ever bought was a Wes record, and he is still today - more than 25 years on - my favorite jazz performer.

  • i love in flames, all that remains ... i love metal .... but jazz is sooooo awesome .... wes montgomery is epic !!!!! its so beautifull

  • @downhillfreak1 SAME HERE MATE! i have been a heavy metal guitarist for 28 years... and i fucking LOVETHIS!! I have every wes album ever printed...huge influnence on me. He has been an influence on my playing the same way Ritchie Blackmore, Jimmy Page, and randy rhoads and tony iommi are!

  • 1:49-2:00......2:37-2:47...awesome!

  • that's herbie hancock on the piano

  • Is the piano solo played by Herbie or Wynton Kelly? It's fabulous, as, of course, is Wes' playing.

  • @encounter1000 Herbie Hankcock

  • Abe want to play pokerstars tonight?

  • listen those horn"shouts' he played. What a conception that is of the highest order!

  • @jazz1bro: Wes grew up, according to his biographer Adrian Ingram, listening to big band music and as a professional, played with Lionel Hampton's big band. That's probably where he learned to "hear" those big band shout choruses you can hear in his renditions of tunes. Wes structured his solos so logically yet beautifully, how can you help being drawn into his playing? His improvizations hold up as compositions in their own right.

  • The Thumb---beautiful piece of music from a true Master

  • Best guitar solo ever?
