  • hermosura excelente cover ! estos hombres son unos dioses

  • thats a great bass line woah its really cool and simple

  • juan is the coolest guy

  • yeah......;)

  • I think it difficult to find open-minded musicians also. But I would rather say it is difficult to find a "true" musician . I mean someone who really loves music for the sake of it. I do want to start a debate, hehe. I just thought, what if we could set up a band without meeting? Nowadays technology and communication media are awefully astounding, and allow us to do something like that.

  • @omrx120 I hear ya. there are some websites where you can do that stuff but Ive been wanting to test the boundries of bands over the interwebs lately just for kicks

  • god adrian's sax sounds incredible. in cuts through the entire rhythm section perfectly. i like cedric's drumming as well. pretty rad. and juan's robot like perfection.

  • didnt know that cedric is a drummer :x

  • very stellar jazz remake. I like it. reminds me of weather report and Headhunters.

Volta is one of my biggest influences and I do credit their musicianship as an influence and a study in progress. VIVA LA VOLTA!!!!

  • i love all these dudes, but playing the real book version of the "naima" head at the begining of a jam and blowing over so called "free jazz" form doesn't mean your playing naima...it means youre quoting it in a jam...again, huge fans of these dudes, but if theres any real jazz heads out there, can u hear any changes, or direction to the sax solo? it sounds like hes just blowing, where as a cat like pharoah or ornette, while free, are playing purposefully...just my opinion. Love to the volta fam

  • @brownchambersheath i totally agree, but this isn't jazz. this is.......kinda like progressive soundscape instrumental or something...i dont really know. it's using the head of naima as inspiration to put a completely different take on it. at least, thats what i like to think.

  • @allerdyce word up

  • @allerdyce You can still consider this jazz, I mean most instrumental music gets labeled as jazz. Jazz isn't defined by much really, it's such a broad term, like Coltrane's jazz was so different like like Glen Millers' Jazz.

  • this is a gorgeous version of Naima. they put a beautiful touch to a jazz staple. is there anyone who can match up to these musicians?!

  • Adrian is the shit!!!

  • this is olllllddddd

    but sick :)

  • q buena version... en 3/4 y totalmente experimental

  • la mejor banda mexicana del momento

  • roulette dares.

  • i had no idea cedric played drums! thats sickk. this is so good.

  • you should listen to De Facto! its the band that later evolved to the mars volta.... Omar plays bass and cedric drums and it's fucking awesome

  • actually Cedric plays Drums since DeFacto... even before At The Drive In Band... and by the way Omar played Bass not guitar in that band also...

  • he also plays drums in the dub band 'Defacto'

  • @loketron He also played drums on some of Omar's solo albums and on the next Big Sir album (Juan and Lisa Papineau).

  • @DandelionVolta

    NEWW BIG SIR ALBUM???????? WHHAAAAAAA!????

  • @loketron I think it's already recorded! From their tumblr: "Lisa’s in LA, Cedric’s in LA, Juan’s in LA = Big Sir new album recording sessions….", that was posted on May 16th

  • does anybody know where can I get this album! it sounds so sick, TMV family rocks!!

  • cheesin ass smile

  • does anyone else just look at what the "extended volta family" does and just think "I would sell my soul and give up my legs to be a part of that group of musicians".

  • Yes, absolutely, too bad I have no talent.

  • @theodorewilhelm I'd rather take a small influence from them and create my own group

  • @tarantism I think you might have missed the point of my comment, but good luck with getting a band together!

  • @theodorewilhelm Do you think Omar ever said "i'd sell my soul and give up my leg to be apart of larry harlow's group!". I'm sure he did as a kid but there comes a point when your own music is more important than anyone else's. As much as you may idolize them, you would be worthless as a musician to want to create yourself in another's image. Even if you go your whole life thinking about how much greater they are to you, one should always create one's own image, don't you think?

  • @tarantism I don't idolize them, I envy them. It's not the songs or the style, it's the group of people. I've been in many bands and it's rare to find one person that wants to play the music you want to play, let alone like nine. I don't want to be Omar, or any specific member of his band, I just wish i had a similar thing going. It was just meant to be a harmless youtube comment, not a declaration with the intent to start a debate. Perhaps I should have been more careful with my wording

  • @theodorewilhelm oh yeah that makes sense. yeah, i definitely feel what you're saying. I don't think it's really just about finding people who want to play the music you do, because many of the "volta family" have very different influences. the main thing is finding people with the same drive and same love and thoughts on music. If you look at a band like Can as well, they all had very different musical influences, but its a good thing. I know what you mean though and its what I want too.

  • @tarantism I agree, I just wish your statement made it any less difficult. It's pretty rare (at least in my case. maybe I'm unlucky?) to find a musician who isn't stuck in their ways. Most people have a clear idea of exactly what they want to play, and although they will give an inch here and there, they're not usually up for leaving their comfort zones. This applies to much more than the volta or experimental music in general. people who play country don't want to play prog, and vice versa.

  • @theodorewilhelm ive been in multiple bands and have played a lotta country and prog, ur just unlucky lol. seriously tho, it is hard to find open minded musicians, i pretty much had to find close minded musicians who's minds were closed on the right styles of music

  • @canthinkverywell i agree. ive been trying to find open minded musicians but either people get too structured or too hardcore orientated if anything. kind of a bummer

  • @agadez13 I know that feeling. That's why my band is a three piece. Because if music around here isn't a constant breakdown OR rapping about bitches and money kids just don't accept it. A progressive instrumental trio doesn't fly too high in these parts haha.

  • it sounds kinda easy, but I never figured the tabs since I don't own a bass :p

  • @Amputecht1 uhm not really, cause I bet he's playing one of his fretless here

  • @tehlarsie Comment intended to a youtube user asking for tabs. Even with a fretless, there are equivalent tabs.
