After watching it a couple times, I realize the pregnant mother dies right after giving birth.

The son grows up without his mother knowing the banjo from hearing it inside his mother's womb.

The boy's father tries to get his son to move on and play ball.

The boy, obviously his heart void of his mother's affection, continues the banjo.

As he passes away frozen from the snow; he finally meets his mother and plays the banjo for her.

Very well done.
