Yes, some don't like the "dirty water" look and the scent is not "floral" or "sweet" so it will turn some people off. Not sure what rule you are talking about. :)

I just used this melt today and I'm not a big fan. It was super messy and I didnt know the water had to be super hot to use it. Confusing

Yes, this melt contains sugar, charcoal, glitter. So there is a bit of a "grit" factor - especially if your water wasn't warm enough.
