Hey Captain America, guess what I saw on the new DVD on Grand Master Jimmy H. Woo produced by Bernice Chin Woo and edited by Star Painter Productions...?
Grand Master Jimmy teaching a lesson with a spinning back kick in it.
So, can all the nay-sayers put it to rest. You know, the ones who say that Jimmy H. Woo never taught spinning back kicks, and other such nonsense.
Yes indeed that is Ben Brandt in the street clothes. You know who else was really cool back in those days too, was Ken Kneiss, as was Jeanette Cook. They were also working out at Ben's. Good people and very tallented first generation practioners.
Hi , No I think that you are wrong. It is not Ben Brandt. It is in fact Ron Bradburn. Unless you have some proof that it is Ben Brandt, I know that it is Ron.
My San Soo instructor (Robert@TMI) was a student of Ben's for a short time back in the 86 or 87 time period. He told me a long time ago that it was Ben Brandt.
I called California today to double check with Robert... and to approximately quote him. "It looks like Ben Brandt, it moves like Ben Brandt, it talks and sounds like a Ben Brandt... it IS Ben Brandt.
Sipalred was a student of Ben's also, by his testimony, and both Robert and sipalred knew Ken Neiss also.
At about :35, Al Ruben makes reference to Van Browning, himself, and while looking and nodding at Ben Brandt, he refers to Ben Brandt.
Also, at about 2:44 of part 2, Ben says he has to leave... and guess what? Whereas you KNOW that it is Ron Bradburn, at least 2 Masters in the video do NOT know that, because they say "goodbye BEN" !!!!!!!!!!
The topic is high-kicks in San Soo, which of course were discouraged. I do wish they had been part of the system to a greater degree. But the poster mentions Nen Neiss who I worked out with often back at Master Rick Insley's first studio... Ken was a lethal, accurate, and viscious high-kicker. He could side-kick to the throat or roundhouse kick to the temple as good as any Tae Kwon Do artist. For a shorter guy Ken was damaging just to work out with. Ken...if your out there, hi from Steve from LB
Yes indeed that is Ben Brandt. Ken Kneiss was out of Bens studio as well as Jeanette Cook too. Those people were all very, very cool, and talented. I miss them :)
Yes indeed, that was Ben Brandt for sure. I got a brown belt from he and Ken Kneiss back in the good old days. Those guys were very cool. You know who else was the bomb back then? Jeanette Cook...you can't find much on her on the net, I wonder what ever happend to her.
This is way cool..Master Al Rubin left a legacy in San Soo that still has forward momentum, A lot of very knowledgable Masters came from his Riverside studio. The Inland Empire produced some amazing fighters from that era that do Kung Fu San Soo justice.thanks for the clip
This is just fantastic, it`s really great to see the First generation Masters discuss among themselves kicking technique, which in it`s self gives some real insight, plus the Jimmy story is a real gem, can`t get enough of those.
hello this is ben brandts oldest daughter, and yes that is him
thank you

Of course there's back kicks in San Soo.. those ""nay-sayers", just like to make up excuses for why they don't know how to do alot things.

And why, Jasonaronson, would "Ron Bradburn" be so critical of Frank?
That makes no sense.

And in addition, go to part 2 of this video...
At about :35, Al Ruben makes reference to Van Browning, himself, and while looking and nodding at Ben Brandt, he refers to Ben Brandt.

Jasonaronson,...the next time you KNOW something for sure, and demand PROOF that your declaration is NOT true, you need to review logic 101.
Logic 101 teaches that THE person making the claim, assertion, whatever... THAT person has the burden of proof on him.
Prove you did not kill a neighbors dog when you were a teenager. Because you cannot prove you DIDN'T, is not grounds for me to say it is true.
If I were to make such an assertion I need PROOF.
YOU need to prove that it is Ron.

My apologies to the everyone. This would not be the first time I was wrong.
Like everybody else, I am glad to see the old masters and thank you for making this available.

Thank you very much. Is that Ron Bradburn (not in a uniform?) He was my instructor. Anyway, thank you so much for sharing this.
