got my expedition new,4 issues-all taken care of,366,000 on her now and some of the electrics are getting screwy. speedo just flips thru numbers like mad,window switches that wont work-will work if you open and slam door shut. i think it was a good suv for the money,but not sure what i will replace her with.
@CrashJSTest The Fords. The cruise control was a wiring problem, wrong wire sent to Ford. Like I said, they fixed it as soon as they found out what it was. It didn't take 15 years to fix. We actually had our '03 E-350 recalled in '06.

The company that supplies Ford's wiring sent them faulty wiring for most of those cars. Ford couldn't figure out what was causing the car fires, but as soon as they did they recalled the vehicles.

This recall is super easy to do. I work at a Ford dealership. The cruise shut off switch wiring harness will catch fire. All it takes is plugging in a recall harness and you're on your way.

Got the recall notice on my '97 F-150 and called my dealer - took about 10 minutes. No big deal. Now I have 130,000 miles and still waiting for my first problem. Runs beautifully - zero rust. Far and away the finest vehicle I've ever owned! Love it! Oh, by the way I DO maintain it.

Only non-original is visual things, the engine is the original engine and the day I bought it, it started first try, it was sitting in front of a junkyard with a for-sale sign on it and with make an offer. We pulled in expecting it to be crap and to not even start, we put the key in the ignition for the first time in 2 years and started right up, I have recently replaced it with a 350 v8 though. (more power).

@svpfshow500 There is an easy way to stop a vehicle with a stuck throttle. Something most people are to ignorint to realize, just put it into neatural, or in a manual pop the clutch in. That simple. Then you can get the car to a stop because there is no drive after being put in neautral. And put the e-brake on. Id rather have a stuck throttle than being burned to death by a pos ford in the middle of the night with out me even knowing until its to late.
@MrRolling100 Cruise control harness's were defective and causing fires because they would not switch off when not in use so they put a fuse on it . It took about 8 minutes

this looks like a truck i seen in a old ford trucks magazine. guy had accel coils installed, they over heated and caught the engine bay on fire.....the cruise control harness didnt catch fire, it caused the cruise control off button to not work.
the fact of that matter is as its not that common or ford would have recalled alota motors but the modular 4.6 and 5.4 does have a spark plug tread count issure they went with less threads and blew blugs out because of it do some research before u shit talk i kno what im talking about since i worked at a ford dealership and rebulit one of these motors myself idiot fuckface
My 2001 F-150 cruise control recall was fixed and caught fire while driving. I had all the spark plug power packs replaced about six months prior. I heard nothing while driving when it caught fire but I smelled a quick hint of plastic burning in the parking lot about 4-5 hours before it happened. Could find where it was coming from, so I thought nothing of it. Do you think it was spark plugs or something else?
Funny, the most reliable automobile I've ever owned was my 1999 Ford F-150 4.6L.
I treated it like absolute shit, and it just didn't care. Overloaded it, went off-road, rarely cleaned the thing. All I did was change the fluid as you should. I miss that truck......gave me well over 100k of problem free driving/hauling
agreed, i put my 4.6l thru hell, on the streets only, dont off road. but there have been trips going to my moms about 1000kms from home and 70% of that was 100mph plus following another speeder. the other 30% was slowing down for cops and going thru towns/cities. only problem i ever had was one premature alternator and the emergeny brake seizing because i never use it, when i did it stuck and ruined rear rotors (4wheel disk). just gave me an excuse to install 5.4l spec 9.75inch diff

Sorry to disappoint you all, but my cruise control recall was fixed and the vehicle still burned to the ground just like all the rest.
Some say the seal around the brake fluid reservoir leaks and shorts out the wiring. Others say the entire wiring harness is under rated.
Whatever it is they all start with a plastic burning smell and Ford obviously knows it may cost them a fortune to tell the truth.

one of my aunts friends bought in 2007 a new f-150 and they were at work and one of her co-worker ran up to her and was like paula ur trunks on fire and she like yea w/e shut up and they were like noo it really on fire and she looked and it was up in flames ... and come to find out their was a recall on her truck ..someting about her fuel pump or somthing dealing with the gas in the truck

@svpfshow500 There is an easy way to stop a vehicle with a stuck throttle. Something most people are to ignorint to realize, just put it into neatural, or in a manual pop the clutch in. That simple. Then you can get the car to a stop because there is no drive after being put in neautral. And put the e-brake on. Id rather have a stuck throttle than being burned to death by a pos ford in the middle of the night with out me even knowing until its to late.

@MrRolling100 Cruise control harness's were defective and causing fires because they would not switch off when not in use so they put a fuse on it . It took about 8 minutes

this looks like a truck i seen in a old ford trucks magazine. guy had accel coils installed, they over heated and caught the engine bay on fire.....the cruise control harness didnt catch fire, it caused the cruise control off button to not work.

the fact of that matter is as its not that common or ford would have recalled alota motors but the modular 4.6 and 5.4 does have a spark plug tread count issure they went with less threads and blew blugs out because of it do some research before u shit talk i kno what im talking about since i worked at a ford dealership and rebulit one of these motors myself idiot fuckface

My 2001 F-150 cruise control recall was fixed and caught fire while driving. I had all the spark plug power packs replaced about six months prior. I heard nothing while driving when it caught fire but I smelled a quick hint of plastic burning in the parking lot about 4-5 hours before it happened. Could find where it was coming from, so I thought nothing of it. Do you think it was spark plugs or something else?

Funny, the most reliable automobile I've ever owned was my 1999 Ford F-150 4.6L.
I treated it like absolute shit, and it just didn't care. Overloaded it, went off-road, rarely cleaned the thing. All I did was change the fluid as you should. I miss that truck......gave me well over 100k of problem free driving/hauling

agreed, i put my 4.6l thru hell, on the streets only, dont off road. but there have been trips going to my moms about 1000kms from home and 70% of that was 100mph plus following another speeder. the other 30% was slowing down for cops and going thru towns/cities. only problem i ever had was one premature alternator and the emergeny brake seizing because i never use it, when i did it stuck and ruined rear rotors (4wheel disk). just gave me an excuse to install 5.4l spec 9.75inch diff
