Nicely made characters but it looks like Haggar needs a huge boost to his normals. The ability to grab an opponent and walk them into the corner is very nice though. :o

Oh, please! Streets of Rage was just a Final Fight knockoff, and in a real fight, Haggar would prove that Blaze is just like New Coke - there's no beating the real thing.

@DJCandyManMike If that's case then Final Fight is a Double Dragon knockoff, Besides Streets of rage had more interesting( a boxing kangaroo,a breakdancing kid on rollerblades and Shiva) and a legendary soundtrack.

Final Fight did add easier grappling, so it added something to the gameplay. Streets of Rage plays almost exactly like Final Fight except for a cop car equipped with a missle launcher. And as far as music goes, Final Fight has some pretty awesome music in its own right.

@DJCandyManMike Yeah the first SOR game was ok but the 2nd and 3rd games were even better where you could dash, roll, perform special attacks(such as Blaze's force ball or Skate's Windmill attack), perform leapfrog attacks with player 2, do specials with a weapon(such as Axel's power swing with a baseball bat). Yeah FF's soundtrack was good, but with Yuzo Koshiro composing SOR's soundtrack FF just pales in comparison just listen to the songs "Max man" or "Go Straight".

Final Fight is still the first to have all uniquely fighting characters. Until then, everyone fought the same, did the same damage, etc. Without Final Fight, there would be no Streets of Rage, enough said. And Axel even ripped off Cody's outfit.

@DJCandyManMike And like I said before without Double Dragon(the real OG of 2-D beat 'em ups) there wouldn't be a Final Fight, and the console version of FF wasn't that good though FF 3 was ok(only saw playthroughs on Youtube) but SOR3 has it beat with it's co-op attacks, hidden characters and special weapon attacks. Also let's not forget the fan games such SOR: Remake and Final fight x-over "Final Rage Chaos".

There you go getting off topic again. This isn't about Double Dragon - it's about Final Fight and Streets of Rage. I concede that it's thanks to Technos that we have a side scrolling beat 'em up genre, with Kunio/Renegade, and then Double Dragon, but Final Fight still inspired Streets of Rage. And fan games don't mean anything to me. Final Fight continued until 2006 with Streetwise, while SOR3 was the end of the series. Only the Genesis collections kept it alive.

@DJCandyManMike Hey I never said SOR wasn't influenced by FF it's like saying GTA didn't inspire Saints Row. But what I am trying to say is FF was good but it felt like the series got progressively worse with each sequel, while SOR just kept getting better despite that the US version SOR3 being censored and Yuzo not composing the series ended on a decent note. While FF: Streetwise bombed horribly but what does it matter the "Beat 'em up" genre is dead and....

Granted, Streetwise was a failure, and the second Final Fight was so close to the first that it was a disappointment to me. The third game was much better than the second, though, and I will say that the SOR games did get better with each game. I haven't played them much, but I have played all 3 and beat the second one. One of these days, I may play them all again in the Genesis collection, and when I do, it will be largely thanks to our debate.
