This is a heck of a lot better than some of the other Lovely Ladies videos I've watched today.. my theater group would still give you a run for your money though ;)
Ps/ did someone actually say to tell Javert? Did you not listen at all to the story...he was born inside a jail himself and had zero tolerance of breaking any crime or even those hinting at it....his background made him instantaneously hate Valjean and Fantine...and eventually led to his suicide. Fantine is my favorite ever character and to play her was an honor.
I am literally shocked at the comments below about Fantine "calling" for help...are you serious??? This is set in the 1700s in the depths of poverty. There were NO options. She was lucky to sell her hair, teeth (in novel) etc and eventually herself, thinking it may 'save' her daughter. In the end the prostitution killed her rather than starvation but people please, there were NO PHONES or organizations like today. Excellent job to this cast. Wow. The naivety posted here is quite surprising. During those times Fantine would not have had many options. There were no social services or child welfare programs during those times. Find herself a benefactor your say! Ha! that only happened in romance novels. If you study european history you find, particularly in france during this time, that prostitution was one if only carreer options readily available to women.

This is by far the best school production I have found on youtube!! We're currently rehearsing for this for our school production in march and I just hope we are as good as this! This is awesome and this is the only version from a school of youth theatre I have seen on youtube where the whores are actually slutty and brash!

@iDreamOfJulia I agree that the choreography sucks and there shouldn't be any but there is no "everybody is suppsed to freeze." a stage production you might have done or seen could have done that but each director chooses to do something different. I've seen loads of different productions of les mis and none have frozen there so.....just sayin.
Do you notice though... none of those boys are getting to touch those girls.... like they do in the real productions.... I think alot of fathers would be like.. Um.... ya, GET YOUR HANDS OFF MY DAUGHTER!
i don't much like this version, but the 2 sailors in the beginning are the best i've found. iv'e watched like 20 you tube versions of les mis and these 2 sailors are the best! they crack me up everytime!
It's so sad that many girls actually do this for a living. No matter how bad off I get, I resolve to never sink this low. I'd rather starve then sacrifice something that precious to someone who doesn't deserve it.

If she had called for help, Javert- or any other policeman- would have arrested whoever was trying to make her abandon her morals, rather than her. And she could surely have found a benefactor like Valjean- there were lots of rich gentlemen in France.

Wow....I've always been a huge fan of Nipomo High's drama program, and this video just reminds me why! Your Fantine has a lovely voice - would have loved to see how she pulled off "I Dreamed a Dream."

This is Nipomo High School. They have the most amazing drama teacher, Robyn Metchik, and the kids work very very hard. Every production they do is like this. Keep up the good work.

This is incredibly well done, especially for a high school. If I didnt know better, I'd say its professional- it definatly looks it. Not to mention that the costumes are spot on, and what amazing set design and lighting. This is really good, congratulations, a lot of hard work went into this, I can tell.
I think the shear amount of "ladies of the night"(theres a point, do they have day jobs?) is to resemble the amount there where in the poorer parts of Paris, man that toff gave me nightmares
besides, I think that number was good for the highschool chorus girls. It made better harmonies and counterpoint vocals, especially the part right after Fantine sells her hair.

I recently did Les mis and it was a fantastic show. As this looks like.. I played Whore one... and a nun... what a contrast!! This is fanstastic... it looks a bit too choreographed for my liking... but still amazing good job guys... If anyone saw "Reacts" version of Les mis performed in november and decemeber 2006 in brighton could they contact me and tell me what they thought.

This is incredibly well done, especially for a high school. If I didnt know better, I'd say its professional- it definatly looks it. Not to mention that the costumes are spot on, and what amazing set design and lighting. This is really good, congratulations, a lot of hard work went into this, I can tell.

I think the shear amount of "ladies of the night"(theres a point, do they have day jobs?) is to resemble the amount there where in the poorer parts of Paris, man that toff gave me nightmares

besides, I think that number was good for the highschool chorus girls. It made better harmonies and counterpoint vocals, especially the part right after Fantine sells her hair.

I recently did Les mis and it was a fantastic show. As this looks like.. I played Whore one... and a nun... what a contrast!! This is fanstastic... it looks a bit too choreographed for my liking... but still amazing good job guys... If anyone saw "Reacts" version of Les mis performed in november and decemeber 2006 in brighton could they contact me and tell me what they thought.
