Getting a big fish in the past yields a Piece of Heart, while the future gets you the Golden Scale. You can do it in either order, it doesn't matter. Simply return to the past, catch a lunker and claim your prize.

an important tip he didn't mention here: when you're reeling in a fish, it will sometimes jump out of the water. when that happens, LET GO of A and the analog stick or the line will break.

wait when you use the iron boots it's on your gear selection screen i have ocarina of time 3d and the iron boots are in my items screen is it on the gear screen because you're using an emulator or is that just how it is on the n64 version

Ok I found out how to catch the fish! when reeling in, push the analog stick/circle pad to the side the fish's head is facing. It works!! Also make sure youre pressing r and a (3dsp.

I have the idea fishing is harder on the 3ds version. The lake is i think. Bigger and deeper. There are more fish and its hard to see which is biggest. When the bait is above them the big fish almost never bites. Plus it takes doo much time to reel in and especially with the analog stick that wont really grip its hard to reel in. And they wont come closer and eventually they will escape! Very bad designed.

The Scarecrow's Song allows you get certain shortcuts and get specific Gold Skulltula tokens. If you plan on collecting all of them, you'll need the Scarecrow's Song. The hat is just an easter egg.

if you are having trouble with the fish do this

When you are a child, go to the fishing pond and start fishing like normal. Keep fishing until you get a fish that’s big enough to earn a heart piece. Instead of going to the fishing owner, go into the middle of the pond. Face towards the owner in the water and hold Z + R (lock and shield). Don’t let go and swim and run to him. Once you reach him, talk to him without letting go of Z and R. He’ll give you the golden scale instead of a heart piece!

@TheZeldaDungeon There's a sinking lure that can be found in the fishing pond, by the wall where the little stream comes out. The guy at the desk scolds you for using it, but I think you can get the prize anyway.

It is not required, no. There's really only one place in the Water Temple is makes a difference, but really it's only purpose is to get a Piece of Heart from the Lakeside Laboratory.

That kinda depends on what you want to grab. I recommend following the Site Walkthrough (which I wrote and followed for this Video Walkthrough) if you plan on doing that, since you can just scroll down and use the process of elimination to get what you missed.

did you know if you get the hat from the guy you can cast it into the lake. if you do that for while it falls off teh hook and he charges you fifty rupees and stays hatless. atleast thats what happened when i did it

To get that Piece of Heart, you have to get the Golden Scale, which is the reward for getting a Lunker in the Fishing Pond in Lake Hylia as an Adult. It is possible to cheat and get it as a child as well, but you'll have to do a little online search to find out how.

Go to our website at ZeldaDungeon . net, go to the Ocarina of Time section and there's a guide in there called the Scarecrow's Song. I have a detailed explanation along with screenshots and a listing of all the Scarecrow locations. To summarize, you have to make a song for Bonooru in the past, then play the song back to him in the future, this will activate the song.

The Gold Scale is not required to beat the Water Temple. It's a totally optional item that only serves the purpose of getting you a Heart Piece from the Lakeside Laboratory.

As far as the Hylian Loach is concerned, I will not be covering that in this walkthrough. It's totally optional, may take several hours to get and the prize is only a measly 50 Rupees.

First, you have to catch the biggest fish as an adult and get the golden scale. Then you can go back to the fishing pond and it should be in one of these places: on the big log that sticks out of the pond, by the lily pads, or by the stream that's near the rocks. You just have to keep walking around until you find it. Hope this helps!
