  • "This happens to be a bill from my tailor for a pair of extremely becoming Bermuda shorts." - I bet there's a barrister somewhere in England who's used this line!

  • I am going to suggest to Rick Perry's campaign managers to have Mr. Perry say the phrases Damn You to Mitt Romney during the next presidential debates.

  • hahaha nothing against this video

    but god dammit

i came here thinking it was the band Cross Examination haha

  • I think I recognize that actor, wasn't he on "Captain Kidd"?

  • MASTERPIES !!!!

  • Thirty years of practice and I can assure you: things never wrap up so neatly in real life.

  • MASTERFUL!

  • She authenticated her own letter for the defense. Then she was screwed because it is excluded from hearsay as an admission by party opponent.

  • a well worthy film to be in my top ten of all time, top class actors and actresses alike.a film you need to see before you die.

  • i saw that movie a long time ago and i never hated a character more than marlene's in this one... until the last 5 minutes. then my opinion switched to the complete opposite. this movie is fucking awesome!!!

  • I saw this movie yesterday, damn what a great film!!!!

    charles laughton rules

  • @Guorthegirn One of my all time favorite films. Of course, we should not give away the surprise ending. :) That was killer. LOL My favorite scene in the film is when Laughton's character is cross examining the victim's maid. OMG, that is hysterical.

  • Oh god...i'm at court tomorrow as a witness

  • @TigerMilitia

Oh really? LOOKING FOR WITNESS TECHNIQUES? D<

  • @AMVGladiator

lol i was but it doesnt matter a soon as i turned up he pleaded guilty and was given 3 years in prison and £5600 to the victim

  • "One day I'm going to take a thermometer to the shoulder blade of that blabber mouth."LOL!

  • A fabulous movie, with some of the best actors ever to breathe air. Too bad that many viewers of this clip don't realize that the witness is actually using her cross examiner like a cheap suit at a costume party :D

  • haha. fuckin jokes. that fat guy is sick at gettin info from people.

  • the movie is called

  • @topnotchshinobi Watch the film to see how it turns out

  • Why do americans open their mouths about british justice? Tthey are borne of treachery out of treason an presume the real world agrees..sad... the gag is over

  • @stephenbiboy lol, i hope that was a joke..

  • Charles Laughton's TOUR DE FORCE performance--and that is saying a LOT for this legend of a man. :)

  • I kindly request you to keep the Full Movie

Witness for the Prosecution of Charles Laughton

  • Objection your honor

    agrumentive witness and attoney

    objection your honor

    revelence?

haha i love mock trial :)

  • Isn't evidence supposed to be disclosed prior to the start of trial?

Oh well, this is ridiculous for a bunch of other reasons anyway.

  • imagine this cross-examination with the Apollo Justice Objection theme

  • It has to be when he said "......like this?"

    EPIC

  • Billy Wilder and Marlene = Perfekt !

  • I think this might be the worse cross-exam i've ever seen... It is funny though!

  • would not be allowed then or now. And bad technique. irving Younger would have a fit.

  • If the barriester should fall off the bannister

  • This is Witness for The Prosecution

  • Can't believe Marlene was 56 here. She looked 30 tops to me.

  • Shemay have been only 51 in this film. She was born in 1901 and this was made in 1953. Anyway, she does look good.

  • Marlene is beautiful here oh man.

  • "Daamnn Yoouu! Daaammn Yooouuuu!"

    lol

  • Yeah in her accent that line is especially funny :)

  • LIKE THIS? This shows how sharp the anticipation was.

  • just noticed at the end, the man was in so much shock he blinked with 1 eye :P

  • my favorite line:

"Your honor, if the prosecution insists on answering his own questions then I find the presence of the witness to be superfluous."

  • I'm sure there's an objection in there.

  • Yes, there is.

    "I have here a letter..."

    Objection! Counsel is testifying.

  • MONOCLE!!!

  • what movie is this from?

  • "witness for the prosecution"

  • thanks

  • omg, im crossing a witness 2morrow in a murder trial and im nervous. but this vid taught me 2 things so far: contradict their EVERY word and mention evidence!~hope i helped someone and wish me luck guys!!

  • hope you did well!!!

  • thanxx...i went on wed and it was grading like a test...i ended up getting a 93! thanxx again!

  • @cmlgivens bullshit.

  • LIES! ALL LIES! is that the archetype for the phrase

or is that just a lame cleche

  • cool!!!!!!

  • I'm so gonna yell "DAAMNN YOOU" when I'm being crossed.

And my school will win nationals because of it.

  • thanks for the vid. we have a mock trial tommorrow! hahahah i can't wait.

  • this is not realistic its to exageration. youd get objected for askeng questions like this.

  • damn you!.....lol

  • out of sync

  • lolololol

  • which movie is this? :)

  • Witness for Prosecution [1957]

  • DAAAAAAMN YOU!! DAAAAAAAAAMMNNN YOOUUUUUU! XD loool!

  • out of sync

  • Oddly enough, all three stars (Laughton, Dietrich, Power) were closeted bi or homosexuals....though Dietrich flaunted male drag, and Laughton was halfway out.

The most talented actor of the 3: Laughton. Biggest star power: Dietrich. Prettiest: Power.

Ho-wood must have been a weird place, with all those secret sexual identities sneaking around.. Almost as weird as a town with stars like Cruise, Travolta, and Jodie Foster.

  • You could just watch this movie with Charles Laughton and Marlene Dietrich, "Witness for the Prosecution".

  • he didn't disclose the letter - you can't surprise witnesses like that

  • only in a movie

  • Damn Brown v Dunn

  • Yes he can. The letter was used for the purpose of impeaching the witness, you don't need to disclose that.

  • when he flipped the book to show her actual letter i was like OWNED BITCH, GOT EM!

  • You left out the twist! The man turned out to be guilty after all. The wife concocted this story so that he might get off!

  • Who's interested in the outcome of the movie, it's worth watching it. However, the idea here is to give an insight on how to lead a cross-examination.

  • i have mock trial in school in a few days

    i hate it

  • thnx this really helped i got a mock trial 2moro

  • yes thx you

i have a mock trial in a few days

  • A few major problems with this cross: (1) hearsay objection (2) lack of foundation for the letter prior to introduction into evidence. But these might be overcome.

  • It's not hearsay - he's using it to impeach her.

  • Prior inconsistent statements, while admissable to impeach, remain technically hearsay in the common law (applicable here since this is British), and is a hearsay "exemption" in the Fed. Rules of Evid.

  • so sjlantry, would the letter be admissible in the UK? Like you said, it is recognized as an exemption under the Fed. Rules so as long as the cross-examiner lay down the proper foundation, it is admissible in the US.

  • Thank you I have mock trial tomorrow and this really helped.

  • no...its kavanagh QC

  • ownage!

  • lol,..cool video.

  • what is the name of the movie (or whatever) this is from?

  • Witness for Prosecution [1957]
