Idk why, but I still prefer the sub.... The japanese faye expressed more of a badass, careless kind of aura, so it made it much for satisfying to see her really turn out to care for Spike so much. Also, dubbs just kind of annoy me for some reason....

i read in an interview that the creator never stated spike was dead. people took that as the ending but he had more ideas for the series however now he feels it would upset to many fans to continue the series. It would of been interesting but at this point i think any continuation would just be to cash in on the series name. Theres going to be a movie in 2011 with Keanu Reeves as Spike....

I think that, really, spike DID die, and that makes the ending more final...but that fact that nobody truly knows if he died makes the ending even more ambiguous and powerful. What a great series :)

I think it was definitely intended for spike to die and to let the viewers know it. In one episode, that native american guy said that spike was born under a special star, and after the credits, you get a view of the stars in the sky and you can clearly see one star going out. I'm almost positive that that was meant to be Spike's star and to let the viewers know that he was dead...

Watch the movie for a little insight, Vincent and Spike are on a spiritual level playing field, and when spike says "You're an original" he's being sardonistic.

It's unclear how exactly Spike feels Julia and Faye. Honestly, when it comes to the ending, a lot of implications have to be made based of what you take from the series; it's so incredibly deep.

There is an entire site dedicated to writing essays on the show, to try and find some of the more "hidden" or deep parts of the story that aren't as straight forward as they seem, like this one.
