King Crimson wiped the floor with all the so called "prog" bands (and metal and hard rock as well)... chewed them up and spat them out... all in 21/8 time.
@bloggulator I must have missed the news that music had been turned into a competitive event--an angry one, at that. You may want to take joy where you can find it, dude. Oh, and Crimson WERE one of the "so-called prog bands."
i think jimmy page just lost his crowm as fastest guitar player at this time i dont know who yes,s guitarist is but he is like the yngwie malmsteen of his day and better tone 2
@shredmaster100 He's actually pretty well-known, probably more among progressive rock fans than others. I will agree with you though, he does indeed kick ass on guitar.
@shredmaster100 Kind of a lot to put on old Johnny, don't you think, mate? Me, I'd want to reserve some of the blame for some of the progs themselves. A lot of Genesis sounds a bit precious when I listen to it now. ELP were more than a bit grand, as well. Kids just wanted to dance and fuck and the progs weren't very much from the neck down, as far as teenagers of the time were concerned. Hard for me to disagree with that assessment.
@shredmaster100 What? No one has heard of him???? Steve Howe was voted "Best Overall Guitarist" in Guitar Player magazine five years in a row (1977–1981) and was inducted into Guitar Player's "Gallery of Greats" in 1981. The only other two guitarists to win the "Best Overall Guitarist" category for the "Gallery Of Greats" are Steve Morse and Eric Johnson.
why was he not as famous as jimmy page or ritchie blackmore because i honestly never heard of him till recently and ive played guitar for a long time and steve morse and eric johnson are great guitarists just a shame steve went into deep purple i liked his own band better and eric johnson has lost it today he is nowhere near as good as he was seriously check his vids from 2011 out on u tube he sucks
This is the band I was introduced to. Saw them as a 'Rookie' concert go-er at Crystal palace as as 16year old in the September of the same year. These early versions of CTTE are easily the best in my view. Nice Upload

Quelle racquette! I understand this was 'inspired' by Buddhism, but the somewhat pretentious presentation and angst created by the period, cliched shrill guitar rifts leave me puzzled.

@juliangelp01 Its amazing what one can see in a dew drop from a spiders web. Notice the microscopic creatures in the begining of the video. I was there.
FYI, this is from the wonderful "Yessongs" DVD.
