  • Now this is my sport!!

  • No, a relaxed event really.

One Mum got a tad frustrated when her four-year-old didn't get it and threw his stick into some bushes instead of the water.

Lots of picnics on the riverbanks after competing.

  • Any punch ups between parents?

  • The original was in a children's book about a toy bear with very little brain, so there's not much to learn!

But a careful look at the way the water is moving can make a big difference, as can selection of the right stick. Two of you drop one stick each from one side of the bridge, rush to the other side, and see whose stick comes out first!

In this charity event, there was a rope stretched between the banks about 25 ft beyond, with judges eyeballing progress and declaring the winners.

  • is there any skill involved here are is this just luck? How do you know who wins?

  • wow… this is entertainment.

  • I'd love to be able to answer that question - there were hundreds of people and teams at it all day, but I only stayed until just after lunch! A great event, especially for families, but also for the many foreign visitors who had arrived specially for it. And all for the Lifeboats charity.

  • who won? lmao

  • I'll find out and post when info received!

  • @lauraminora The winner was called Phil Davies
