Tifa's fight was actually my favorite from the movie, when she is thrusted back towards the back of the church and lands perfectly on the wall and counters, and how the follows all flew up, it was my favorite scene haha.
Clouds fight was too long like 20 mins straight ._.

For god's sake - "Those Who Fight" is clearly an arrangement of the midi orchestral fighting theme "Fighting". That said, why are people behaving as if it is an entirely different theme altogether when it's just a variation of it?
What I wouldn't give to here a proper orchestrated version of the original "Fighting" complete with requisite brass...
They were going to make Cloud use the Buster Sword. That's why if you look at some of the old trailers you see Cloud fighting with it. But they decided to make him use First Tsurugi. Running joke was that cloud had an insanely big sword then so now they give him insane number of swords. That's what I've heard anyway. It makes sense though.
(cont'd)...because of the limited ranges of the orchestral instruments; the piano has a consistent timbre making the piece more successful.
On the other hand, the "Ballet of the Unhatched Chicks" is more successful for orchestra. Ravel's orchestration uses light, bouncy violins & flutes to illustrate the idea of the adorable chicks, which is not fully present in the piano version.
Conclusion: This piece is a piano reduction of the orchestral version, but it may not necessarily be as successful.
In response to those below discussing the merits of originals versus arrangements:
An arrangement is NOT the same as the original song. Look at Mussorgsky's "Pictures at an Exhibition". The original is for piano, and Ravel orchestrated it for a second version. Some pieces are successful both as a piano solo and for orchestra, but some are not. "Baba Yaga's House on Chicken Legs" is much more successful on the piano, because the huge descending run has an inconsistent timbre in the orchestra...
god i love the ff7 series. i have all the games and the movie. beat every game at least 3 times and watch the movie all tha time lol. and i don't obsess cuz i'm a freak either. the original game just had a huge impact on my life between the ages of 5-10 so it a very speacial game to me :)
Is this the real song from the movie? or did someone else play this on their piano because there are some parts that I don't remember being in the movie
some other parts may not be familiar because the music stops halfway when tifa smashes loz into a church bench and loz's victory theme plays from his cellphone
They could have at least made cloud use ultima weapon... I spent ages flying around looking for that bastard dragon

epic though that scene was, I now associate this version more with Crisis Core rather than Advent Children

Hyper-defensive much? *eyeroll*
I *want* to hear an orchestral version because:
a.) It's the best fighting theme in the series.
b.) They've already done this excellent piano version - so why not an orchestral version too?
It's possible to like the original and other versions as well. *eyeroll*
Takver 2 years ago
they have done an orchestral version of it, but its not this version, its the ost version. it was the original version, like, straight from the game.

this is sooooooo much better than the piece of shit called the FF7 game ost fighting

why have i got -5 thumbs? this song is brilliant, and the ff7 battle theme ost is the worst battle theme ever.
Just compare fighting to FF9 and FF10'S battle themes.
Daltrey1994 2 years ago
Because you have NO respect for originals.
It's people like you that make me sick, you only like the new versions and call the originals terrible.
You have NO respect for originals.

What the fuck are you talking about? The new vamo alla flamencoe is a piee of shit, by the black mages.
I like which ever is best. Respect for the original? It's rubbish.
Daltrey1994 2 years ago
Actually, you make no sense. Every single song is the same. Just on different instruments.
If one is good, they're all good.
If one is bad, they're all bad.
It's a matter of opinion who likes which instrument. But they all are the same song.

This song is not the same as the ost.
It's based on it, but not at all the same "shakes head" "fail"!
Daltrey1994 2 years ago
Wrong again.
This is the same exact song. It's just on the piano.
The arrangement is ENTIRELY the same, just on the piano.

HAHAHAHA
Go and listen to the OST
Then listen to this, come back, then tell me they are the same.
This is hilarious, i love it when i'm 100% right, and i have an idiot calling me wrong, and owning himself.
Kepp up the good work -- noob.

actually on second thought the original is OK, but this is much better imo
