@tokman20 yes, and the Dorian scale too. Plus George will throw in a lot of half-step note and other chromatic tones. I've been jamming with this video for about 2 week everyday. I play the A flat dorian scale and it works good over both chords.

@MrLuciusz beg to differ, as comfortable, full of feeling and born with the axe as he looks, Benson always uses the modes in very conscious and innovative ways. Maybe it's not as obvious here but rendering Take Five, he goes through modes all over the place.

He plays a riff coming out of the D flat 9 chord and then plays some "weird" notes coming back into to A flat minor and, bends a note to come out of it. I'm not sure if those notes were "accidents". But if anyone can make "any" note sound right, George can. He plays a lot of appregios to the chords but also throws in weird bending double stops and uses chromatic notes a lot. Never boring.

That isn't a Rhodes, that's a Wurlitzer 200A Electric Piano, similar to a Rhodes but it's a different voice. Donny Hathaway on the original recording also used the Wurlitzer.

Earth Wind and Fire did the drum solo almost exact to the Donny Hathaway live original version, George Benson also Valdez in the country, it s great to see people playing Donny Hathaway stuff so well , he was a true genius song writer and music arranger, and one of the best voices you'll ever hear.
