not long from now you will be using OS X, as OS X is eventually going to be on the PC, so stop claiming it's useless as in 3 years from now your PC is running OS X...
been hearing that for about 13 years now. btw...i do use macs at work for quark & final cut. but thats it. and what makes u believe that all of a sudden OS X is gonna go from 8.7% market share to being the common platform in 3 years? probly just ur personal opinion right...or do u actually have solid proof? if u do i'd like to see it.
hardly. that would be like posing the argument that microsoft will be the sole software developer cross-platform because macs now need to use a version of ms office.
all it is is a mimic of ms office. one of its key features is that it'll save in office format. the 15% is mostly from educational facilities cause its free. very few businesses will use openoffice because of its lack of features. key point about all of ur next points...they're all past tense. the one point i do agree with u in is the server part. ms servers suck. unix have proven themselves best (which is why unix security specialist get paid so much). even novell servers are better then ms.
well foxynews i just saw an article on slashdot, org that microsoft and novell are filing suit against all "clone" software. primarily apps like openoffice & openXchange, since the developers make openoffice so much like ms office and openXchange so much like the novell mail server. also, about ur other statment, in the article dell and HP have stated that they will continue to use ms office. and IBM is the only brand i know of that makes openoffice commercially available.
So awesome.

Yes, that's why I wrote that I cut out two parts. The Mathematica demo itself isn't that funny.

need??
office isn't essential anymore with openoffice and all.
it's inevitable, Next did it Sun did it..
Foxynews 4 years ago
openoffice...lol...yeah right. and sun & next aren't in the os race.
flako179 4 years ago
NeXT used to be, and sun has more servers online then Microsoft based systems.
plus even Dell's online store used to run on NeXT before they were bought by apple.
and lol openoffice yea right? sorry but it has already snapped up 15%from Microsoft office marketshare and growing, so yes...

from IBM to dell they all have switched to openoffice.
so yea very few, the outlook is already that Microsoft office will lose more and more marketshare.
