Wow, I remember those days, that was my generation. the 80's, some of those kids look like some i knew when i was a kid. Computers sure have come a long way since those days. I woked on a computer as demonstrated here, now that makes me feel old! :)
I remember watching this video when I was about the same age as the kids. I was mesmerized. I recognized the video as soon as the kids started using the line drawing program.
Let's see, it has a camera, so it has eyes, we ALWAYS knew it had SOME kind of temper, robots have enough legs and bones for locomotion, and AI beat us at chess. So... yeah. You're right one that one.
I was born in 1978, I was the same age as these kids at the same time using the same computers and programs in school. This really takes me back to being a kid. Thanks
I've ID'd the computer at 1:01 as a Texas Instruments TI-99/4A. Can anybody ID the computer at 1:57? I've looked on vintage computer sites and had no luck. Thank you.
@UT00ber50 LMAO so true - i lived next door to a neighbour who did that all the time... she was never caught but I considered dobbing her in from time to time
In the scene where Tiffany and Helmy are creating a picture of a jack-in-a-box, the "E" key represented "up", "X" for down, "S" for left, and "D" for right. And the other letter keys also represented the punctuations instead of punctuation keys. Pretty weird they had to cram everything on older computer keyboards.
As for some of the other keys on that same computer, I see an "Alpha Lock" key, etc. I'm guessing "Alpha Lock" is like "Caps Lock".
This clip rocks. Lovin' how the teacher got them to think asking those guiding questions, building on what they already knew about computers to help increase their understanding.
I remember this film very well. Shows how old it is to today standard computers and all the programs that are on them now. And yet their still a hassle.. lol!

I do remember the tandy 1000 my father bought. It was a "screaming" 128K and can do spreadsheets! It had TWO 5" floppy drives.
The salesman at Radio shack assured my father that it was completely upgradable.
