the commentor on this is so surprised at the rate of lift and climb? One look at the total wing surface and light weight should've already told him to not be surprised. The prototype was capable of amazingly quick short-term lift and near-pivotal turning manuevers, however was underpowered and too slow to climb. But it could out-turn anything in its day. The camel and the snipe could almost turn as well, but they were prone to spin-outs from tight turns. My grandfather flew with the RNAF.
This if a Fokker Dr1. It is NOT an Eindecker. The German for single wing is Eindecker, Dr1 stands for Dridecker (Three Wings). It's not THE Manfred von Richtofen 'plane although he did fly the Dr1. The colour scheme is inaccurate.
I know the feeling had brand new great planes super chip munk $1100.00 hundred dollars first flight was in a 90 degree turn at 3/4 throttle and the crystal fell out of the receiver and plane went in from about 200 feet destroyed engine all servos and plane did save crystal and receiver that really hurt but it goes with the hobby
I know what you mean. It isn't the cheapest hobby but it is one of the greatest! I just wished they never crashed! I am re building a $600+ plane right now. I went dead stick going down wind at near stall speed. Lets just say I had all the raction time in the world but no action to do.
