When I first seen this way back when on MTV. When it got to this section of the concert I was completely blown away. The crowd as massive as they are, are all jumping at the same time. When a band can come on stage and get that kind of power and energy going it goes to show you have one hell of a band up there.
To date, this is the best concert I ever seen. I`m willing to bet nobody left this show feeling short changed. Long Live Queen!
Glam is their image. The hair, the clothes, the look. Nothing that play is different from 70s hard rock acts (or glam rock acts). Nothing that Slash plays hasn't been done by Page and the other biggies.
The music is rock, sure, but they are a Glam band. They sold the music they loved with an image that their generation was inclined towards.

Seriously though. Guns and Roses sounded nothing like the other "glam" bands at the time. But because they had big hair, which still didn't look quite the same as warrant, winger and stuff, they got lumped in with them.. They have a much harder sound than what is known as glam. Its hard rock. They didn't even act the same or look the same as the glam bands. Guns and Roses despised the glam movement, their roots were in Rose Tattoo, punk bands like the misfits and hard blues rock.
And just because Warrant and Winger look just like those other glam bands that they're thrown in with, people seem to assume that they sound just like them too. And from that ignorance, guitarists like Reb (winger) are less known than less-than-creative chums like ol' Slash. Who isn't glam of course.
True. I still think Slash gets a bad rap just for the hell of it. He may not be the most technically skilled or technically creative, but you have to admit, in his prime he wrote a fair few very good songs, even if you don't like them. They weren't a stereotypical glam band at all.
Well they were unique in that they took everything from older artists and put it into a modern context. It's not that they were vastly creative, it's just that the world needed something like GnR at the time. Not a stereotypical glam band, but a glam band all the same.

sure, Queen became a bit poppy in the eighties, but in the beginning they were more heavy than GnR will ever be. I mean, GnR was a perfect Glam Rock band, but they were never as explosive as classic Queen

Seriously though. Guns and Roses sounded nothing like the other "glam" bands at the time. But because they had big hair, which still didn't look quite the same as warrant, winger and stuff, they got lumped in with them.. They have a much harder sound than what is known as glam. Its hard rock. They didn't even act the same or look the same as the glam bands. Guns and Roses despised the glam movement, their roots were in Rose Tattoo, punk bands like the misfits and hard blues rock.

And just because Warrant and Winger look just like those other glam bands that they're thrown in with, people seem to assume that they sound just like them too. And from that ignorance, guitarists like Reb (winger) are less known than less-than-creative chums like ol' Slash. Who isn't glam of course.

True. I still think Slash gets a bad rap just for the hell of it. He may not be the most technically skilled or technically creative, but you have to admit, in his prime he wrote a fair few very good songs, even if you don't like them. They weren't a stereotypical glam band at all.

Well they were unique in that they took everything from older artists and put it into a modern context. It's not that they were vastly creative, it's just that the world needed something like GnR at the time. Not a stereotypical glam band, but a glam band all the same.
And I didn't say that I don't like them, I love GnR :D

you should so listen to his solo albums, especially the first one Back to the Light. But its very personal stuff so it might feel a bit overwhelming and not be for everyone. And yeah he sings every song on it.

Well chrisharvey I have seen guns and roses, queen and velvet revolver and have been playing the guitar for 15 years (have you seen all 3 live) and slash does not have a style from the 60s/70s. are you kidding? everyone knows slash takes his style from mainly early aerosmith, ie joe perry he says so himself, and jimmy page. You refer to an 80s style as randy rhoads, van halen ect not slower melodic stuff like slash plays. how does seeing them live stop you from being retarded? slash is a better performer live, maybe not a player but then his stuff is more complex then mays anyway. Both are great but clearly you've not been learning much in the last 15 years to call slash's style 80s

in this case bigger= more mainstream, queen are a radio friendly pop band, GNR are a hard rock band who were never going to get (or want) the exposure to the masses of pop fans. GNR is better music 'at the end of the day'. Duff mckaegan is regarded as one of the best bassists of his style, and izzy stradlin is also a great songwriter as well as a rythm guitarists. what is wrong with you, Duff is rated by critics none of the other members of queen are even heard of. It was always the Freddie Mercury show, with May getting some credit. Anyone can name the odd song thats heavier than others for a band, but Bohemian rhapsody and all the other crap they released cannot be called rock music at all. Call it good pop fine, but its not rock and certainly doesnt compare to GNR. But it's all opinion anyway, only you also have your facts wrong.

roger taylor, the drummer, did have his own band for a little while called the cross. john however, did not have his own band. still, he was so amazing he didn't need one.

Obviously you don't know anything about Queen. You don't know their liveperfomances. Your opinion is based on what their biggest singlehits are. (Break Free, Bites the Dust, Crazy Little Thing,,, etc..) but you don't know anything about their ROCKconcerts in the 70's, Freddie was without Brian, Roger and John not half the artist as he was with Queen. Listen to his solorecords and ou konw waht I mean. Roger Taylor had his own band (The Cross) and made several albums and toured. Search on Youtube,
