Ahh! I was at this auction. This is Don, Art, and Milo Stip's auction. All three of the brothers are deceased, therefore this auction took place. They also had a big land sale two weeks after the equipment auction. They owned about 10,000 acres but sold about 3000 acres.
I am not sure, I didn't go to the land sale although I bet it would be very interesting to calculate how many millions they got for the land. My grandpa sold his land about a year ago and he got 4500 per acre in pretty good farm land, so I can just imagine what the Stip's good land would bring per acre....
@machinerypete They sold two quarters near my house and one went for 3100 and some went for 3300 an acre. Dont quote me on those but they are somewhere close.
(3) lunch wagons.....wow. How about the bidder registration area yesterday? I don't think I've been to an auction before that had 4 or 5 seperate (long) lines to get your #. Quite a sale indeed :-)
I think a day at the auction yesterday provided plenty of education for one day!
Reminds me of being a kid and getting to miss school to attend the local "Dealer Day" (loved the donuts!). I remember watching a movie about the "NEW" JD 6620 combines........many, many moons ago :-)
why did he have so meany tracktors whit so few engine hours?
