Ok we are done with the first part. Then we do everything EXACTLY the same thing with the second part, but i'll explain anyway. (2mn^4)^3 2 times the ^3 which shows that 2 X 2 = 4 and 4 X 2 = 8.. This is 8.then as I said without a number have an invisible 1. This means 1 X 3 = 3. Now it should be 8m^3. Then we'll take care of the n^4. n^4 X 3. ~ 4 X 3. Now it is 8m^3n^12 Then we have 9m^10n^2 and 8m^3n^12. 9X8 ( the first numbers from each part) then m^10 + the 3 then the n^2 + 12 =72m^13n^14.

He got 8 by Squaring the 2 in the 2nd set of parenthesis by 3, just like the 3 in the first one was squared by 2 so that's: 3*3 and he got 9 and with the 2 the exponent on the outside of the parenthesis is 3 so that's: 2*2*2 equals 8 @Cuba305Negro got it?
The problem with a lot of people is that they've learned to carry out specific actions for each type of problem, rather than looking at the problem and thinking about how it makes sense. This is a fragile system that can be disrupted very easily, and it's hard to memorize all the things you have to do. This used to be my problem. Now I just look at the problems and think about how they logically make sense.

@TimeSplitter64 Sadly teachers don't keep pace with individual students, you either get it or you get left behind... In algebra, there are a few "rules", think of it like a logic flow. If you have an apple(A) and two bananas(B^2). If you put them in a multiplication basket, you have A*B (AB). If you take the apple out, you have B^2. If you take out one banana, you have B(A*B). A&B are in the basket, and one of the bananas is out. Make sense? msg me if it doesn't and I'll explain :)

2 x 2(=4) x 2 = 8 Just like: 3 x 3 (=9) x 3 =27, 4 x 4 (=16) x 4 = 64,
5 x 5 (=25) x 5 = 125, etc. Try using a calculator, you'll get the same answers. You mulitply the first 2, the mulitply that answer times the third!

I am in sixth grade, twelve years old and I don't think this is very hard and according to me this is not very complex.
Ok.
^ = raise the power of
(3m^5n) ^2 (2mn^4) ^3.
Firstly the 3 in the first part multiplied by itself as many times as it says (The ^2 behind). This becomes 9.
Then it is the 5 over the M times the middle number (2) = 10
All of the letters without a number above has/ is an invisible 1. Times 2 = 2
Total: 9m^10n^2

@Therealtruth247365 You don't know me, so don't assume I "don't want to get it" I am an artist, a visual artist - photographer, and a wordsmith - novelist and short story fiction and non-fiction writer. This is just a language I don't understand. Very presumptuous of you to assume that considering you don't even know me. I am taking algebra in school and I will understand it eventually. I dearly apologize, but this teacher explained this problem step by step. When you don't understand something, the best thing to do is to ask questions. When I saw your comment ".... I just don't get this!" I felt like you should explain what you don't understand so you can be helped.

Yes, you certainly do have the right to respond but maybe instead of assuming "I don't want to get it" you could have said what you just said..."the best thing to do is to ask questions" It is kind of rude to say things like that. It is insulting. I have not taken algebra in 30 years but I am currently a Phi Theta Kappa honor roll college student, so I am not stupid, but math for me is confusing.

Did you realize you told us to add the exponents together then said you were multiplying them? I can not learn from seeing the problem since I am blind. Now I already know that you have to add them and you did add them together but you said you were multiplying them. I was really confused for a minute when I watched this video. I wanted to inform you of this.

9d + 4m (l?k::) =what the fuck ????i swear algebra is just made for certain people and i am not one of them. i just dont understand what i would use it for. i can undersatn the basics but i am not gonna sit and multiply m times n squared to find the coefficient of my head is gonna explode. i guess i am just an idiot.

Sadly, I never payed attention in any of my math classes and I am only good at basic math: dividing, multiplying, adding, and substracting.
Now I finally realize that I need to relearn the rules of operations but it seems too late, as I am a junior in High School.
From what I just saw exponents do not multiply each other. In this true?

man...this is still too complex to understand...its unfair for people like me how are slow to pick up on maths...cuase the teachers talk to fast and skip to other stuff before i even got my head around the first part...just slow down and explain it in dumb terms please!!! man maths is so hard for me to learn!!!

@TimeSplitter64 Sadly teachers don't keep pace with individual students, you either get it or you get left behind... In algebra, there are a few "rules", think of it like a logic flow. If you have an apple(A) and two bananas(B^2). If you put them in a multiplication basket, you have A*B (AB). If you take the apple out, you have B^2. If you take out one banana, you have B(A*B). A&B are in the basket, and one of the bananas is out. Make sense? msg me if it doesn't and I'll explain :)

Very smart man! Only problem is the title of this video is kind of missleading. Your already talking about products, coefficients, like basis and exponents. This is a little advance for a beginner.

@TimeSplitter64 buy the Algebra for dummies books and learn at your own pace. For me its too basic and the algebra for dummies workbooks help me more because it takes a question and show a complele step by step rutine 2 solve it, it makes the hard easy.

I can/t believe, I actually understood this! I have had such a brain fog with math all my life, now at 60+ years old I am catching on to Math! Who says we slow down when we get older! I just keep getting smarter every day! Thanks to better teachers like this one! Thanks fella! Keep on teaching!!

@menderfire9 hey u should youtube how to solve a rubiks cube cause in one of the comments a 60 year said he could solve one in about a minute. im @ a 16 second average. its really easy when its broken down step by step.
