This is so GREAT! I have studied music since I was a baby, The classic greats are and still is and may never be surpassed GREATEST! If someone is really open to what music really is! Very cool! Thanks for sharing the greatest music in the world!

A big thank you again to behnam62. Three of the five students I tutor in the arts were able to manage an A in Music Appreciation this term thanks to this posting.
I've made this a requirement for the students I tutor... just so they know there's more than Lady Gag Me and Nickel Day and Green Back and all the other soulless shit produced today. Thank you for including the composer and piece title with each snippet.
I'm finally making a concerted (no pun intended) effort to become familiar with a lot of classical music I've missed out on. Recently, I had a few classical CDs out from the library and recognized passages from this record! When I brought the Tchaikovsky's Piano Concert CD out to the car and stuck it into the player, for a moment I thought I had gotten "Hooked on Classics" by mistake when I heard the introduction! I also recognized "Rhapsody in Blue" from "Hooked on Classics".
I rather imodestly have to say that when the Royal visited hong kong back in 82, i and my family had the honour of spending the evening with many of them showing them round, then ending the evening with a sing song. We had a great time and many signed my copy of the Album. Just thought id share that.
I swear there was a version of this that was played all out of tune and badly. Obviously done as a novelty joke follow up this song. What was it called and who did it. Does anyone remember>? I would love to hear it again..
I'm not sure but I think a part of Gershwin's "Rhapsody in Blue" (right after Mozart) might be completely off-key (by three semitones up), and Bach's "Tocatta and Fugue in D-Minor" was played in C-Minor instead - so is "Ode to Joy" (D-major played at C-major). So THREE pieces, not just one, done wa-a-a-ay off-key.
Royal Philharmonic Orchestra and you're saying they're "wa-a-a-ay off-key"? They are playing a collection of very recognizable extracts from famous classical music pieces and not the exact passages. Anyone would noticed this was not a cut and paste project thanks.
I buy the album about 17 years ago since I was a student. Now I use it to teach my daughter to know how wonderful the classical music is! Thanks a lot!

flushdetoliet 2 years ago
What I mean is the following:
(1) "Bumblebee" is originally played in A-minor. Here is in G-Minor.
(2) This part of "Rhapsody" is originally in E or F Major, and is being played in G Major.
(3) "Ode to Joy", originally in D-Major, is being played in C-Major.
(4) One other part, originally in G, is played here in C.
Everything else is either on-key or pretty close. No it's not cut and paste but the song's own orchestra and band.
