I once raised a baby starling that had fallen out of its nest. I wish I had known they could talk. One day it saw an open window and decided it was time to go. We never saw it again.
i think its saying give me CASH! haha you sure you didnt take this lovely bird on a bank robbery :) jks, wonderful bird........ really clever that a wild bird can talk :)
@Solangl You probably would want to shoot them 2 if you knew they were an invasive species and they dive bomb cats. This one is pretty cool, but the whole species is a problem to native birds.
@irvinemofia actually did you know that starlings are not a problem in ecosystems that haven't been intruded by humans. SO actually, starlings aren't the problem, cities and towns are because they support certain animal life and inhibit others... oh and domestic cats are even worse of an invasive species.
What an absolute beauty! It's great to see he's so well taken care of. I have a parrot (the not-talking kind) that makes smoochy noises when she wants kisses.
Oh well I wasn't sure if it was true for sure, but I can believe it now. I could only see these being good as pet's in U.S. that's all cause their nothing but pest in the U.S.
This is fake I highly doubt it said "hey buddy what cha doin" 1:47 and these birds (European Starling) are a pest/invasive species in the United States. They cause $800 million dollars in damage to farmer's crops.
@thepowerfulnews I have a 3.5 year old Starling that I raised from a featherless hatchling after he fell from his nest. He not only makes standard Starling sounds, but he can imitate nearly ANY other sound he hears and speaks English very well. He says his name, in my voice, as well as "what's for breakfast?", "bye bye Eggo", "WOW!", "Cool!" and "Whatcha doing Eggo?" Wee-Woo is definitely not a fake, although I understand how hard it might be to believe that a wild bird could speak so clearly.
Wow! he really said "hey buddy, what you doin" very clearly!! I thought itwas going to sound a little 'birdish' like his 'who's a pretty boy" and "who's a pretty T"
I know this sounds kinda weird and hard to believe, but, I found a few years ago a video of a parakeet that was talking in plain conversation like a human converses with another human, not just repeating words or nothing. I swear on my life i did. the owners said that parakeets and parrots and related birds can actually naturally have conversation and speech exactly to that of a human but we hear them as babble cuz its too fast for our brains to catch up to. so many birts speak than realized!!!
@halleluiah01 oh wow! I've been wondering what my conures lil psycho-babble was, cuz it sounds human babble but I can never make it out! He says other stuff in regular slower human english too. Man I love talking birds. Lol.
This is really interesting to see- all that wittering they do in the trees, it suggests that some of it is repetition of what they're hearing from certain other birds.
@thelittlestnobody starlings in my garden make siren noises cause of police, fire service and ambulance sirens, also mimmick other birds such as seagulls, even heard them making radio tuning in noises cause they nest in air vents and hear peoples radios being tuned in. they dont know what they are saying, they just mimmick other sounds
Cool, we have alot of starlings in our backyard from having put out houses for them to raise their young. I am now inspired to set up one of the houses where I can take the eggs then hatch them in an incubator and raise as pets.
I have one right now that i am raising, and they are one of the neatest birds.
I happen to be mowing under our large pine trees where they nest and stumbled upon it,and took in to my wife who has raised a couple herself. They are fairly easy to raise if you have the time to do so...They need a high protein diet..we use soggy dog food it is better than anything on the market( our opinion )
