most systems you wont be able to shut down the firewall with the command prompt. my school uses a proxy filter firewall called sonicwall, it runs on a reroute box in the server room, only way to change the settings is if you go on the server computer itself and alter the configs thru the novell client. that or flip the switch on the back to the power

... What kind of keyboards do you use? If it's a newish kinda keyboard, there is a button next to the windows key on the right side that does the same thing as right click.

Proxies are skewed, websites with nearly anything worthwhile are blocked where I am... it sucks. And HSC/TAFE (Hmf, now you know my country yeah?) students get better acess >:(

Mhmm. The Department of Education T-something (DET) has set up their own way of blocking things. If any New South Wales schooling institution fails to conform to it, then they are no longer allowed to use their internet services!

Damn them to Hell. Makes for a hilariously fun time getting through and re-routing the computers away from the DET portal's firewall. (Create an Admin account, use my own wireless internet stick/Boot from Linux, use my own wireless internet behind the teacher's back.)

Get some sort of PDA, plug it into the PC and install software so it uses internet.

Or put stuff in email like Yahoo!, GMail, etc., and then get filtrate a notepad and stuff.

Or take a fully unrestricted laptop (they could take it away from you!).

Or use No-IP and a homemade server to create infinite free domains as they get blocked, install a proxy in your server or put interesting content there (hope a dynamic IP would make it harder for them to decide to block your server's ISP).

same here but i found out how to get to it. ok go into S drive or wereever ucan save stuff. right clikc on empty space and a small window will come up with options. go to new , then click text document. this is used for notpad. then make one and edit it. just type start then save the name like this, start.bat

make sure u type .bat at the end or itwont work. then save and open it a cmd propmt will open ta da!!

Ok i've found one way. if your using a account from the school server look for a My Shared Pictures. Then Repeatedly press backspace. that'll get you into the servers documents

Another way is too find out your schools computer pass, can be pretty hard though. Ex. ours is mdec04. Then you go to tools, internet options, content, enable, and you will see a bunch of keys, raise the bar to the other side on each, press apply, then type in your schools pass, and it should let you on almost any site, depending on what keys were in the box.

You can also get to website by going through calculator. go to help, than at the very top left hand corner there should be a ? right next the word calculator, click it and than click jump to URL. than just type in the website, but remember you have to type the hxttxp:// (but take the x's out, i had to do that so they would let me post a comment) or it wont work.

One thing that seems to work if .exe files are blocked is renaming the file calc so it gets detected as the calculator. worked for me at least(then we got a new admin and the new system is stupid).
