  • copilot is wearing glasses?

  • its funny how slow the plane looks like in the cockpit and how fast it is really going

  • Hong Kong is a beautiful city. the video is awesome to.

  • seemed to have gained winglets on it's way down... :)

  • wtf why pilots have right to use electric appliances while they claim its dangerous out in the back, am i missing here something?

  • WOW! <3 the landing, you \m/ !!!

  • @ a/p off? @ 0:20?

  • u forgot to cut out the aircraft from the right screen @2:27 fail

  • @RawAviation hahah ur right its been done by a skoolby i reckon

  • @KeepOnDrumming1 go back to the books, you have A LOT to learn!

30-40 min? That would be more than 100 miles away from the airport! LOL

  • Comment removed

  • @KeepOnDrumming1 Lol 30-40 miles is still way wrong. Please do not speak of things you do not know. A normal ILS approach (very safe and has a long final) is usually straight in from about 10-15 NM. This is not an ILS but the IGS-13 to Hong kong, the approach requires a late turn because of mountains and other obstacles. If he would have made a straight in from 30-40 miles out he would've gone through the mountain. Please don't open your mouth about professional aviation again... ever. Ok?

  • How were you able to get in the cockpit to film it? They actually let you?! lol

  • W W What the f@ck was that !!!??????? Who the heck thought that was a good place and flightpath to an airport???? That is so crazily dumb, it's beyond belief.

A little question ... why didn't they approach from the sea?

  • Wow, absolutely amazing video. One of the best I've seen, the landing is itself just soo cool. 10/10

  • Everybody is commenting about the video editing. What about the content in the video? Nobody even cares to question why in the WORLD is this airport built so freakin' close to the city like that? No disasters yet, lets hope and pray that it stays that way! I mean . . WOW!

  • I can guarantee you that there will be no distasters on Kai Tak ever. You know why? Cause its close ;)

  • Comment removed

  • @hootyhaha Kai Tak has been closed for a while now.

  • Hey that's a great video!

Which video editing software did you use? (sony vegas, movie maker...)

  • iMovie '08

  • I love the girl at 1:50, she's like: "take a picture of me with that plane flying 10 feet above my head!" lol!

  • someone was playing packman in the background at 0:20 :)

  • lol

  • Coooool Man But Did You Who Piloted That Plane? Anyway Cool Landing What was the Altitude Over that Bridge LOL xD!

  • This is just a great video... When Kai Tak was opened, we traveled there all of the time.... A great old airport..... Now there Hong Kong government is putting condos and other builds there where the airport was.... What I big let down...... After all these past years of flying there to Kai Tak.. The new airport keeps on sinking into the China Sea... The government there talks about that they spent 60 Billion for the new airport but it needs repair every. What a joke...........

  • @MarcusLeepapi Well Kai Tak should be closed anyway. There is only so much traffic that airport can take. Plus with the new A380's and other planes coming out, it just makes the place that much more dangerous.

  • Thanks for you comment. Yes, I really miss that airport. But yes, they are closed! Many of my coworkers also miss that airport. But yeah, new aiports are nice. And yes, that new Airbus needs room to land. And yes, the Boeing 777 and 7474 also need room. Thanks again. Take care.

  • 1:12

in the left screen the aircraft is turning, in the right screen it is flying straight

good video, but next time be more careful :)

  • and its turning in the right one . . .

  • no, it's not

  • Thank you

  • nice

  • Not much room for error there!! Very well done !:)

  • Very good video. Well edited and interesting. Good job!

  • Man your videos are so cool! how did you get to film landings from the cockpit?

  • I miss flying into Kai Tak....... I remember that airport so much... I loved it at the time baack in the 80's, I was with PanAm World Airways and for the last ten years, I was with United Airlines. God, I miss travel.... I miss it so much.....

  • THAT WAS PERFECT ! 5 STARS !

  • Wow! From the inside shot, that landing looked like nothing. Didn't even look like he touched the ground, more like he just hit "pause".

  • Oh, yeah I forgot to subscribe

  • Fantastic video! 5 HUGE stars!

  • haha, i guess you need to be a pilot, or, air afficiando...

i dont see all the glory people see! but im sure thats not easy to do! so it is cool!

  • Great vid!

  • how did you get all those shots on the left side of the screen. Did you have like 8 friends record the landings?

  • 0:20 auto pilot off

  • Hey, I can see the cameraman...! =D

  • Thanks. Brought back many memories of when I used to live in Wong Tai Sin and became accustomed to a 747 level with my apartment window. A lot of planning went into what would happen if a 747 dropped into Kowloon. I'm so glad it was never needed. Big thanks to all those whose skill and hard work kept us safe. aloha :)

  • This is just pure awesome to watch over and over again.

I admire the pilot skills that were needed to land under such circumstances.

A 43° angle turn on final, over a dense built area, frequent crosswinds AND a single runway that was`nt really long.

Kai Tak, a phenomina in itself.

  • I agee, plus there is like a big drop you have to do right before the thresehold so that you will not overshoot the runway.

  • awesome

  • I sure do miss that approach to the old airport - the new airport just doesn't compare!

  • How did you slip the screen so that we could see both at the same time? what program did u use?

  • I actually did it with an imovie plug in.

  • lol...they were different planes....it wasnt the same lol.... but cool video

  • idk why people gave you thumbs down, b/c its a perfectly logical opinion, maybe its not the same plane.

  • at 0:40 seconds, u can tell that plane has NO winglets and at 2:14 you can clearly see that plane HAS winglets....so im hundred% sure its different planes unless they formed winglets in the air :D

  • Sure enough, two different 747s.

  • efen without loooking at the winglets it was clear that it was a montage

  • you don't need that to be sure they are different approaches.........

  • what faclubeSelvo said!! Ditto!

  • Awesome video!!! 5*****

  • amazing video!!!thanks for posting.oscar winning stuff.

  • yo that's intense

  • :-)

  • Super!

  • AWESOME! Thanks for posting!

  • Lovely...

  • This is brilliant, got my heart racing. Love Hong Kong, esp. Kowloon.

  • super production! But I am doubt if all of then are the same landing.

  • of course they aren't how could he have a people aboard the aircraft in the cockpit, one on the airport's car park, four or five throughout the city ALL AT THE SAME TIME?

besides, look at the clouds and the shadows on the buildings you will notice that they are at different times

  • I watched the video one more time and they are not the same land, as you said. My old comment looks (and is) stupid now.

Well, thanks for the kinda reply!

  • :) thanks

  • cool...

  • Wow this is brilliant!! Well done!

  • great video..

  • awesome

  • Very good!

  • AWESOME!!

  • Man I love your videos!

  • your videos are always so excited, I think they display what flying is really about: mastering the air and your nerves, and conquering everything else

  • I dunno y the 747 like stubby at the left?

  • it looked like the 747-300 became a 747-400 XD nice video man

  • ya, I was going to comment on that.

  • Good job; but it was a little shakey

  • that was bloody amazing man!!! very very cool! i liked it alot!

  • cool! was the screen on the left video cams video taping this same exact flight on the right screen?

  • Nope, 1:48 on the right was no planes taxiing, and the ships are different.

  • amazing

  • Nice video! You had videocams at every point?

  • great

  • Does Cathy still run 747s?

  • Of course!

  • yes and they ordered 10 747-8F looks like cathay loves the 747

  • not as much as they love their a340/a330s

  • they hav 15 a340-300 and 32 a330 thats a lot of heavy metal to love its too bad that they sold all of their a340-600

  • that was amazing

  • wow
