Thank you for responding. We put a shoe box on the top of their cage and they haven't been going in there. Do you think they will go in or will they lay their eggs where they want to. I just have newspaper at the bottom of the cage. Do you think the shoe box is good?
What signs did your quaker parrot give you to let you know she was going to lay eggs. I really need help because I think my quaker parrot is going to lay eggs. I think she's gonna have quakerkeets. She's mating with a parakeet. The parakeet is always feeding her. Please help me.
@QueenSmileyFace1 Are they just feeding each other or have you actually seen them mating? I'm not sure if that would work - but you never know. Anyway, Keiko & Kamali mated for quite awhile.
As far as a sign of laying-they both of would gather the bedding and pulled out some of the downy feathers for the little nest on the bottom of the cage. Poor Keiko diligently sat on those eggs the whole 28 days, not one was fertile. I should have 'candled' them earlier. Keep me posted.
my cockateil layed eggs for years but there was nothing in the cause there was no male to fertilize. They will lay eggs anyway and believe they will have babies.
Sorry to report to all who viewed KEIKO'S egg laying and anticipating a hatching. We waited and after about 28 days, candled them again. We saw what looked like liquid that_ would move, so while I winced, hubby cracked open the first one in the bathroom - just an unfertile egg. :-( This happened 4 more times - no babies.
Such a good faithful little mama, though. Maybe some day - I'm not trying to breed them though.
Oh wow! We are so EGG-sighted!!! Please keep us posted!!! For Quaker owners, it is NOT IN THE LEAST boring just to see your little girl sitting on her eggs!!! Lots of updates PLEASE!!!
Thank you for the update! That's funny and cute that she was "blowing raspberries" and the babies/eggs! I hope all goes well. I am eagerly awaiting the next update!! :-D
would they lay eggs on the bottom of their cage if there is nothing there? just a normal cage bottom-metal bars?
