  • piece of shit

  • This video was the tipping point for me, I'm defiantly getting the SmartQ V7 (the upgraded model from this one). It just has the best battery of all the Chinese tablets and full Linux, so it can run almost anything and is great for hacking.

  • LCD screen e-book readers are retarded.

  • :L who needs the ipad

  • Кирпич.......

  • Is you are running Ubuntu , have you tried to get the Kindle software to run under Wine ? That would get around your DRM issue. Very interesting, nice job.

  • can it run skype and meantime connect to a bluetooth earpiece?

  • It doesnt have BT built-in but BT comes on a USB dongle. Skype on this is going to be a very rough experience though due to the low processing power.

  • With e ink you can read in sun light...what about this?I suspect not?

  • ...with LCD screen you can read in the dark ...what about e-ink? I suspect not?

    (horses for courses, mate)

  • of course you can if you illuminate it. and epaper doesn't consume any electricity when it's not illuminated.

  • It runs Ubuntu so you could get flash on there, not sure how well it would run though but flash is available as a deb file for Ubuntu, unless the browser isn't Firefox in which case you could download it or wait for the Linux release of Chrome.

  • Flash for Linux is only available for x86 platform as far as I know, this device has an ARM CPU

  • there is no flash for ARM processors.

  • There is. I'm watching this video on my Archos 5 and typing this with it LOL.

  • Of course the "Download a book anywhere for 9.99 and no paying for an internet connection on the go" feature of the Kindle is still a big value of Kindle over any of the other readers. So they are really different animals, aren't they?

  • Hi steve, which is better for the same money? An ipod touch 16gb or the q7?

  • You have to discover for yourself. But for my money I'm definitely not getting an iPod Touch due to the lack of direct MKV playback support. Coreplayer is supposed to come out that will support native playback of AVI and MKV. But you know how it is with Apple and their app approval BS. Lack of copy and paste until you fork up for OS 3.0 or 3G is another unforgivable blight. Ultimately iPod Touch is just priced too high with a too tiny screen to be justifiable.

  • what's the batt life like?

  • does it rotate the other way? The buttons seem less awkward then

  • oh yah it can be configured in fbreader itself.

  • thanks chippy, thanks alot..because of these past two vids i just bought one! ya happy now?? lol

  • how much?tell me ,please

    thanks

  • $189 (without shipping)

  • thanks the price very fair

  • Who needs a kindle when you have that for what? 1/3 the price?

    Great video man.

  • Perhaps, if it's so, the only reason to buy a Kindle is that it has (if it has) a screen more readeable (e-paper sort of thing). Does anybody knows if it's so?

  • + longer battery life (using e-paper)/ larger screen?

  • well,I think they proximately the same size

but Kindle is only Kindle for reading books, with Q7 you can surf the net(more or less)/check email/use ssh or radmin kinda stuff...listen to the music or audiobooks

Dunno....I would likely buy this one!

Of course e-ink is better for reading...need to compare this most important parameter

  • Nice...

  • Yah right, were recording now...XD You should crop that out of the video...
