Rupp actually congratulated Solinsky in an interview the next day. Give the kid a break if he didn't jump at the opportunity to congratulate the man that just beat him and edged him out for the AR. I have tremendous respect for Galen Rupp and Solinsky. They are both tremendous runners and I'm sure we'll see more American Records fall to these men.

god, rupp is such a bitch. He wasn't happy for solinsky at all. That little handshake he gave him was completly fake. Finally someone put him in his place. I don't care how much i wanted to win, if my teamate beat me i would congratulate him and mean it and have done so in the past.
@mzpujols5 They're not teammates. They train under different groups. And at least Rupp had enough left in him to give him a handshake. In the weeks leading up to the race, everyone was hyping up for Rupp to break the American record in the 10,000. He did just that, but he found himself behind Solinsky. Chris Solinsky is definitely deserving, but give Rupp a break. He led for nearly 3,000 meters from what I remember. That's pretty difficult to do.
Solinsky just did 10K in <27:00. genetics are clearly not the factor, unless you'd like to claim that the OTHER , oh, 50 people in the entire world who have done that are of uniform descent.
please keep your bigotry out of relevant analysis of athletic achievement- after all, this is why we have sports, to realize our human potential, not our human differences, and may I add, rooting for an AMERICAN means rooting for them regardless of their genetic makeup.
@MrWakethesheeple He is an American citizen. We are more powerful because we do not believe that our fathers' conditions determine what we can achieve. That is why we astound bigots around the world and why even those who have run fast in their homeland want to come to our republic and run even faster-- because they are not bound by what some call their destiny. We Americans choose our own destiny, no matter the fate of our forefathers or their genetic makeup.

Possibly the most excited I've ever been watching a race online. I remember I was screaming at my computer watching this.
