  • SO GOOD. It was passionate, explosive and endearing. An unbelievable performance. And she pulled it off without a hitch, infront of the President of the United States. Talk about nerves of steel. Electroman076 is just jealous of her speaking ability. I bet she would run circles around him in any kind of debate, including a left wing, right wing debate, which I still don't understand why he thinks is relevant...

  • I think that people should STFU. because they have no idea what our RACE had to go through. Just to even get people to listen. dannng haoles.

  • @electroman076 It's beautiful because it speaks the truth. There may be no "Hawaiian Race" but there is a distinct Hawaiian culture. Hawaii, unlike other states, has a native language. Ans this Hawaiian culture is losing meaning because younger generations no longer take the time to look into their history to place meaning behind long-standing traditions. She's not just listing her lineage, she's talking about understanding the past to create a better future, about not forgetting who she is.

  • Beautiful poetry to add to my mana'o :) Mahalo Jamaica Mahalo Nui Loa

  • Awesome. Very moving. Thank you.

  • Beautiful! Awesome!

  • Hated this performance - can't keep watching.

  • @zzzyzzzyzzzyxxx ahh shut up .. . . does your depravity know any bounds ?! ignorant person . . . .

  • Love.

  • Loved this performance can't stop watching.

This "electroman076" user is an arse, most likely a troll seeing as their channel no longer exists.

  • daam she got it :D

    hellls ya :)

  • Jeez, you jackholes. She's talking about a race, a nationality that's dying EVERYDAY! The Hawaiian Race is dying slowing fading into the abyss. Soon the Hawaiian Race will only be a meer artifact in a museum. That's why her words are so strong. THAT'S why she is "naming" people. Her family, her geneology. I bet NONE of you guys can name your ancestors without asking your grandparents.

  • @undahmongoose96792 shows how much you know their is NO SUCH THING AS A HAWAIIAN RACE YOU ARE THE JACKHOLE !

You left winggers are such ignornat morons, 90% of what you say is based in complete nothingness and often times lies !

FACTOID: Hawaii was settled by Polynesian people from the Marquesas then second wave of migration from Raiatea and Bora Bora in the 11th century.

  • @electroman076 ...and there is no such thing as an american race...The united states did just the same.....and for your informion...I AM HAWAIIAN!!!AND WE ARE A RACE,A DYING ONE,BUT NOT GOING DOWN WITHOUT A FIGHT

  • I'm sorry, I wasn't paying attention. What was that?

  • How does this woman simply reciting the names of her kin folk and crying about her roots, get passed off as art or poetry ?

What if an American of German or Irish decent went up and ranted about the names of their kin folk ? Would it be embraced as art or poetry ?

Of course it would not !

Yet somehow this is poetry because her families last names are not as prolific in the phone book as ones like Callahan or Miller this is somehow artistic and poetry (Give Me A Break)

  • @electroman076 its deep think about it shes talking about her roots and where she comes from and how society today doesn't take the time to appreciate where they come from and she doesn't want to be sucked into that realm

  • Comment removed

  • @electroman076 @electroman076 It's art because Hawaiians never wanted to be a part of America - they protested it and still do but they were COLONIZED (that means a lot of murder and rape and hurt). It's art because the Hawaiians are still suffering to this day and nobody cares or even knows. It's art precisely because people WILL remember German or British names because they're the only names we hear about in history class...and all other names are unmentioned

  • @Gossiptgirl @Gossiptgirl hi there sweetie, you must be paid Astro Turf from OFA, or one of the many Sorros groups ? Are you aware that Colonizaiton is very differnt from Overthrow and Annex ?

The simple use of the word Colonization reveals you're identity as a Progressive Globalist or Marxist in either case you are IGNORANT to the FACT it is Marxists and Progressives destroying culture to replace it with a single cultureless identity !

George Sorros calls it "Open Society" look it up !

  • What a racist pig ! One question, why are you still here in the USA if you don't like it or want to find you're quote "Roots" ?

This is how it works when you come to the USA, you check you're ethnicity at the door and become an American first! Then she has the audacity to say she is afraid to speak are you kidding me?

The only people who have been silenced by the PC speech police and who are afraid to talk for fear they might offend are White Males of European Decent PERIOD....

  • @electroman076 how is she racist one your criticizing her for being different o.O

  • @joshytheskater what does being differnt have to do with race ?

I love creativity and being differnt, if you simply looked at me you would know this and my profession requires it. I do however DETEST when people CONFUSE Political Activism of any stripe with Art or Poetry.

It may be creative, yet somewhat creative propaganda left or right does not make you Langston Hughes !

  • @electroman076 when the fuck does she ever say anything about her political view ? she talks about how from being in the U.S. her people have somewhat lost their identity and she doesn't want to fall into that category

  • "You won't find your roots online"

We need an app for this!

  • Jamaica Osorio is from Pālolo Valley, (O’ahu).president obama was born and bred just one green valley away from her home.i can't believe she's 18-year-old she's so talented

  • i really like this poem but i just can grasp the last part of it, is she just naming ppl ? could somone translate the last part i would greatly appreciate it .

  • @0Xorcista0 She's giving her genealogy. Elroy Thomas Leialoha, a man. Claire Ku'ulei K., a woman, they come together and born is Jonathan K. Kamakawiwo'ole Osaria, a male. Jonathan K. Kamakawiwo'ole, a man. Mary Carol Dunn, a woman, they come together born is Jamaica Heolimeleikalani Osaria, a female. (I'm not sure if I spelt all the Hawaiian names right, she spoke really fast.)

  • @0Xorcista0 yes she is simply naming people and I ask you, what do you like about it ?

You just said you like it, yet then said you did not know what it was about, you see this is impossible because if you did not hear or understand the words then you can not say you like the poem !

So you liked the way it sounded, not the poem, for poetry is about the words and their meaning, not the way it sounds !

  • @electroman076 I understand what she was saying throughout the poem, just wanted to be sure if what I thought she was saying was correct cause I'm not familiar with Hawaiian language nor they way of naming people, so it is never bad to ask when in doubt. thanks for your answer.

  • @0Xorcista0 It means, we are children of the earthly flower, the bright world of source, this green and fertile valley which spawned our kind, our children, and our children's children, we live and toil and dream in the land of the mist, of the fruits which are born here with us, the dreams which harken back to our origin, we burst forth in song, and the songs of our fathers, which shine beyond our land, our world, our time.

  • can people actually do spoken word without sounding like theyre crying? i mean its good but so overly deep...

  • The people who disliked this wonderful poem/poet were most likely expecting four letter words and and froth, so that they don't have to think or try to understand. It is sad to see such ignorance, and I am increasingly concerned that it seems to be taking even stronger root, quietly, and covertly beneath the surface.

  • S T U N N I N G

  • What kind of person has the Nerve to dislike this?!

  • @vee04 maybe an open mided objective individual who does not get caught up in politics or race, I don't see how anyone has the nerve to like it !

I have read the comments and NOT ONE OF YOU can point to anything good about it, for example if one were to comment on the complexity of Shakespear or the beauty of Keats. Instead because you like the Marxist political message underneath it, with the rest of the mind numb thoughtless left winggers you say "ohh this is great"

Yet you never say why !

  • @electroman076 There is more to poetry than Shakespeare and Keats. There is art. And there is an unexplainable phenomenon that happens when self-expression, eloquently expressed strikes a nerve. Some people feel this. Don't try to dissect everything. Don't throw your politics into this. Don't dirty someone's heartfelt tribute with your psychological projections. Shut up, and enjoy the poetry. If you don't, do the world a favor, and press the power button on your operating system.

  • I'm not Hawaiian, but that's how I feel about my family and culture too. Thanks for sharing this.

  • the 20 dislikes are people who dont understand the hawaiian culture and the ways and words of our people!

    EO Hawai'i, Mai Po'ina!

  • Who can anyone click a [tum down] on this video its just so great I'm speechless.

  • Jamaica Osorio - is an beacon of light, is a symbol of reviving, is the youth that finds their real place... is a woman that went beyond being a woman, a Hawaiian who touched the hearts of millions around the world with poems, her life style, her family values, her respect to her land, her eagerness to preserve who she really is.

Jamaica Osorio - speaks to every child in their mother's womb that carry a minority ethnic blood that have lost their land and rights.

  • Beyond words. I can't help but cry at so much beauty.

  • Jamaica is the friggin' bomb diggity.

  • Jamaica, you're amazing, I fucking love you.

  • @flowergirl1313 cry and write sister. and speak.

  • 1. MR. WHITEHOUSE,....teach the people that the US is a FOREIGN CORPORATION and is not a Government.

    2. You can do it.

  • " U will never find your roots online" Osorio.... This is a powerful line...

  • it was good but taste the tears????

  • Well done!

  • Poetry is cool...

  • Um...First? Yay.

Doesn't exactly sound like a poem, but it's very far reaching, as it is quite easy to forget the past when the future is so shiny and distracting...

  • It's spoken word. There is a slight difference.

Spoken word is like poetry, but is more around prose writing, and forgeting structure, rhyime or rythem. It is more based around the human voice (see 0:30 - :36 and hear how her voice changes in that clip to make it more emotional)

    (excuse my spelling)
