The snake, after this experience, isn't interested in Gerbils - I guess he realized that they're too big for him. I normally don't feed him large meals like this, but it was the only thing available at the time. Figured if he wanted to try he could go for it. Nothing really happened after the video ended. The gerbil is 100% fine now actually. I figure if they survive one encounter it's kind of mean to toss them back in a day or several later so he's going to be a breeder.
Unfortunately. The ones here are $6.99 a pop whereas the mice are only around $2.00... but the catch with mice is I've got to drive about 40 miles to pick them up. Ha.
I think snakes are so cool, but I wouldn't be able to do this. So I'll probably never own one.

with a lot of the biters I had a pack of wood sticks to place in their (rodent's) mouth to prevent them biting anything important.
A lot of the strikes were good enough that the head/teeth were away from the snake's body.

Yes, I know that they have large teeth... that's one reason why they're classified as rodents. And yes, the possibility of them getting bitten is there... but unfortunately that's one of the risks I have to take into account when feeding live.

The snake, after this experience, isn't interested in Gerbils - I guess he realized that they're too big for him. I normally don't feed him large meals like this, but it was the only thing available at the time. Figured if he wanted to try he could go for it. Nothing really happened after the video ended. The gerbil is 100% fine now actually. I figure if they survive one encounter it's kind of mean to toss them back in a day or several later so he's going to be a breeder.

Unfortunately. The ones here are $6.99 a pop whereas the mice are only around $2.00... but the catch with mice is I've got to drive about 40 miles to pick them up. Ha.
