@sjlove2bird Thanks. I get asked this all the time and I know it's the answer kids/parents wanna hear but parrots are just too difficult and long living for a child to be able to commit to.
@kiliparrot The same can be said for many adults. I've always lived with parrots, and I love your videos. But I always try to talk some reality into people considering adopting one.
the whole point of having pets when you are a child is to develop responsibility you nerdy dick weed restricting kids from having pets and encouraging them to play more shitty games is doing nothing but dividing them further from nature so they will become more like you, a total dweeb
Yes, but a parrot is much longer lived than most pets. Sure, pets like fish, hamsters, guinea pigs, and cats or dogs are great examples of pets that can teach responsibility, but having a parrot is comparable to having a toddler. Is a toddler him/herself ready to raise a child? Most parrot species live to be 30 years old or more. A bad experience with an irresponsible child early in their life could ruin them for good. That's why he warns against children owning parrots.
@tazosborne Or you could just stop trying to skirt the responsibility to an innocent animal and just teach your kids yourself about responsibility. A pet shouldn't have to suffer experimental care from kids (who might lose interest in a few months or years) that don't know much better.
@tazosborne Birds are infinitely more complex than most animals and most children for that matter. The typical child will grow up and move away from home for college to a place that probably doesn't allow pets separating the parrot from probably its chosen person. How would you like it if you were separated from your favorite person against your will? This happens to birds and its very similar for how married people feel when their spouse dies. You disgust me.
@johncena0123456 Read the article linked under the video for many reasons I present that parrots unsuitable for children. The game is fun and enjoyment/results are guaranteed. Real birds bite, make a huge mess, and need to be cared for many many years.
@AshayLol Is your responsible 14 year old going to turn into a responsible 18 year old and go to college? Are you going to accept further responsibility for the bird at that point? Or if your child develops new interests down the line (hey at that age they're exploring and trying new things to see what they will or won't stick with), are you ready to take care of the bird for 20-30 years cause that's how long they're expected to live? Ultimately your decision.
I've been watching your videos and I love the tricks I have a parakeet (Budgie) she was actually pretty tame when we got her but Duke was a very good bird you had. Truman is my favorite now but you should get another budgie. I trying to teach the spin or turn around trick right now and your videos and website helped.
I hate how people think so poorly of us kids Im 12 and hav a bg macaw a moullucan and a cockatiel and a budgie. And there mine I feed them and evrything.
@nicktkret I would say you are an exception compared to many young adults. There are few like yourself that are mature to handle daily care of birds. We must consider everyone's future.. Who will be there years from now when you go to College or University & can't devote nearly as much time because studies?
@nicktkret (continued) Few careers give enough time even for ourselves. Living accommodations; most people won't rent to people who have birds..In this video his suggestion is; birds aren't suitable for MOST people. Children and adults alike.I wouldn't take personal offense "for people your age". Doing so is taking responsibility for everything they do, good /bad. You are responsible for your actions & that is plenty enough. I'd love to see your birds videos -they sound loved & well cared for.
i wish I told my step mom about this kind of game before she bought 2 love birds for my step sister !!!

@AshayLol Only if your son is sure he knows that a Sun Conure is the right parrot for him and that he knows how to take care of them.
