  • Looks like a train carrying material for track maintenance.

  • Lucky! Thats so rare!

  • i seen the train going though waterloo

  • This is known as a battery loco. It runs on batteries!! It's an engineering train mainly used at night when the power's switched off. Pretty cool!!

  • what are you doing nick some stones

  • stupid things

  • first world problems

  • jure que era santiago ._. ajajaja HD culiao

  • El metroval lo ocupan para cargas también, pero en la noche po wn, acá había gente xD

  • troll time nivel: gringo xD!

  • @tracyaraya GRINGO GRINGO GRINGO GRINGO GRINGO GRINGO GRINGO GRINGO GRINGO GRINGO GRINGO GRINGO GRINGO GRINGO GRINGO GRINGO GRINGO GRINGO GRINGO GRINGO GRINGO GRINGO GRINGO GRINGO GRINGO GRINGO GRINGO GRINGO GRINGO GRINGO GRINGO GRINGO GRINGO GRINGO GRINGO GRINGO GRINGO GRINGO GRINGO

  • yo me subo y me bajo en la otra estacion .______. LOL

    HD! :)

  • i also seen one of those on the london underground

  • No freight train can ever operate on metro lines, I thought that was a law.

  • @krnboy1009 Maybe in yankeeland, in this case it was an engineering train for work elsewhere on the underground network, but on other parts of the UK there is no distinction. The law exists in the US because 2 mile long trains don't really mix (traffic wise and safety wise) with short commuter trains.

  • @Wolfie123123 freighter trains in US do mix with Commuter trains but not metro.Theres a big difference between commuter trains and metros in US though.

  • @krnboy1009 Yeah Everything in the Ulcerated Sphincter of Arserica is shite...

  • @XxMCR999MCRxX what?

  • @krnboy1009 U.S.A? Ulcerated Sphincter of Arserica... Satans Scrotum...

  • @XxMCR999MCRxX now why would you say that? its actually a pretty decent place to live.

  • @krnboy1009 Hmm... I'll take my chances with the UK thanks...

  • @XxMCR999MCRxX Not telling you to move to US buddy

  • lol it looks like the new victoria line, except the train to split in the middle

  • ha

  • Blasted vandels fill new third class underground train with gravel! :-))

  • That's not something you see every day. Interesting though

  • Trains are cool no matter where they are! Thanks for posting this. In the U.S., I don't get to see work trains or freight trains that up-close so I think it's cool!

  • "What's happening!!?" 0:16

  • It's a track work train, no freight.

you could see it carrying the sleepers.

  • Overreaction FTW!

  • I love this video clip, to which made me think if that would that be a good replacement service for London Underground when Public Service Strikes were in action. lol

  • Ballast train.

  • wtf? That is so cool, never seen one in the tube before

  • listen you dumb heads they are battery locos enginering trains used on the underground. not freight or diesal so stop talking silly. nothing rare about this video since they do this run through the tunnels over the weekends or night time

  • @class37100 Not everyone is master of the london underground, could of thought about that before you start swinging insults?

  • That is SO cool!!

  • this isn't a freight train. its the new rolling stock for the Hammersmith and City line! XD

  • @BMWM3GTRLOVER yep and save money on air conditioning they have made them open air

  • GREAT VIDEO!!!!!

  • Hellfire!!

  • Wow! I have never seen a frieght train operate in the underground before. Excellent video. Thats why I love videos of trains doing rare things.

  • well then??? Hop on... =P

  • That's a maintence (ballast) train.

Not really an actual goods train, but it's nice to note the buffers sticking out...I'm not so sure if a container could fit through a tube...

  • What Deisel Class is that?

  • @KinletHallsthebest I have no idea what class the locos R, but I'm pretty sure they're battery powered rather than diesel

  • @KinletHallsthebest They definatly won't be diesel some health and safety bs stops diesel locos using long tunnels, which is essentially what the London Underground is. They'll either be battery powered or run off the 3rd rain like the passenger trains.

  • @AshHill07 4th...

  • How did that train get in there?

  • what stations that

  • that is soooo wierd!!!

  • OMG, Never thught I'd see that :D

  • On a surface portion of the Chicago (CTA) system, interchange freight ("goods", as you British say) in the form of coal was hauled at one time with electric locomotives. The stations affected would have a gauntlet track to allow clearance by the larger coal cars ("wagons). Ancient history now...LOL

  • i have never seen that

  • lmao that was awesome

  • You'll notice these trains are manned back to front teeming with engineers. My guess is to ensure people don't jump on considering the train moves so slow.

Last time I saw one there was some real sinister looking engineer sitting at the back overlooking the wagons.

I can also hear these at night rumbling, through the house!

  • @LikeMindedIncident Actually, I think the reason the maintenance trains always have a loco at each end is so for manouverability; like the standard passenger trains, so they can be driven from either end. Remember, if they're repairing or replacing track they might need to switch direction anywhere. Mind you, I've often been tempted to jump onto a passing freight at a main line station myself, when my train doesn't show up for ages.

  • @eisemanrenyardjake - Yeh you're right, intended for maintworks purposes. While passing through stations at snail speed though, having drivers only at the front would be dangerous.

I had one pass through once. Sooo tempting to get a lift..!

    Cheers

  • For almost half a year I travelled by tube day by day and I never saw that... cool

  • @Keytaster You'd need to travel very late evening or early morning to see these

  • Hi. this is a ballast train returning to depot. Early mornings they are usually seen finishing off from night engineering works. The locomotives work by battery, because the electric current is switched off. Nice catch, and worth seeing.

  • London Underground Engineer's Trains, run to a Timetable, just like all trains on London Underground.

  • coool!

  • When I first went on the tube, this is what I thought the announcements 'good service' were referring to! :P I thought it meant goods-service/freight train. Didn't realise freight trains also used the tube lines! haha

  • lol steal the gravel!

  • jump, get of at your stop

  • INCEPTION!!!

  • Its actually more common than people think for good trains to be on the tube. its usually one of the quickets ways to transport freight across the city. but it usually happens at less busy times to prevent disruption. Usually late at night or early morning when the lines are less busy.

  • @jamesc9954 Thare are not, nor ever have been, goods trains on the tube, this is an engineering (ballast and sleepers) train.

  • @AtheistOrphan Then why did the Metropolitan bother to have a freight depot at Vine Street in the early 1900's? Just asking.

  • @jamesc9954 It never happens. Maybe you're thinking of the Thameslink tunnels?

  • good old battery Loco's! , from Ruislip no doubt, they do exactly what it says on the box, they run on battery power when the traction current is switched off at night to bring ballast and track materials to site for the renewals work, the yellow loco's date back from the early 1950's .

  • well how else can they do repairs

  • Thats a first.. I my self have never seen a freight train going past a station.. For all my time traveling on the tube this gets rarer then a 1938 Stock...

  • its actualy a engineering train, probably running l8 after works or something, but it would be cool if there were freight train in london underground

  • @EWS60500 we have been known to carry the odd car or two :) but mainly ballast sleepers rails anything they need that cant be taken in via road

  • They carry freight on the underground?!

  • wow that was un expected what station was it though???

  • it is a mow train not a freight train

  • Cor blimey guvnor, a freight train on the underground??

  • it looks like a 1938 train but infact its an engineering train

  • Yeah,It happened to me as well. I thought it is going to be a normal tube train and then this!:-D

  • iv seen one in railfreight today volume 6

  • LOL what is that!? Why on earth would they be running a train full of ballast through there? The undergrount doesn't even use any!?

  • @soundseeker63 only a small percentage of the Underground is actually under the ground - there's plenty above ground and yes, they do use ballast just like the "normal" railway on those sections. To get the ballast from the depot to the worksite may well mean it goes through the central underground section - just like in these video. The yellow things on the end are battery/electric so they can work when the power is switched off - essential when maintenance is going on!

  • Something different! =P

  • If that Fucking Eginireeing works rail will make the fuck wwwwwwwhooooooooosssssssssssshhhhhhh Noisy fucking rail in the entire London underground. Fuck rail whoshing

  • @MultiCARTOON

    Fuck you.

    Haha.

  • @MultiCARTOON

    I like old things too.

I live in a modernist 1930s apartment and a lot of the items I own are from the 20s/30s period (e.g. lamps, kitchen units, tables and chairs). They don't look a day old but are almost antiques. They go quite nicely with my 46" flatscreen, soon to be 3D, but at the moment nothing is shown in 3D.

Do you have televisions and electricity where you come from, MultiCARTOON?

    DO YOU?

  • its a maintenance of way train right?

  • 0:12 Someone having their balls squeezed

  • How often do freight trains run on the London underground?

  • Its called a Engirneering stock

  • That train is free!

  • HAHA why didint you jump on XD

  • WOW! Great catch, Mate!

  • what time of day was this?

  • One came through South Kensington once carrying rails and a noisy fucker it was too!

    NH

  • Wow that is rare. I be rather annoyed if I had to ride on that since I paied a lot for a ticket.

Does anyone what station that was since it is too blurry to make out.

  • Every1's like wtf, how am i meant to get on that

  • Na na na mate you go down a tooting broaway at 5:30 and you see one of them go past every morning.

you should see the battery locomotives running over the rats, what a sight it is.

honestly tooting broadway is FULL of rats at 5 inthe morning bloody hell

  • Ballast train with ballast and concrete sleepers - must have been really late at night...on its way to the worksite and they turn the current off so the track gangs can work

  • 2 battery locos hauling a train load of ballast which is an every day occurrence...!!!!!!! Normally seen very early mornings or late evenings.

  • waaa! i've never seen this before! everyone has m8

  • I saw one of those engineer's trains two years ago. It was going through Euston Square on the Metropolitan Line. There was some works on the line between Moorgate and Aldgate. Thanks for the video.

  • LAMOO what the hell which staiton was this thats werid?

  • I think this is hilarious!

  • They sound far more like luvvie types than chavs to me...but what do I know, I don't live anywhere near London!

  • Oh my god i've neva seen anything like that before - bunch of chavs!

  • Ha! Its hilarious to hear the reactions of people. They were probably chavs!

  • everyones like wtf haha

    pretty rare i take it?

    nice one

  • ohh a few days ago i went past the place where the stones come from and saw the trains :)

  • Very exclusive!!!

  • Its not a really a freight train, its an engineer's train for carrying ballast and sleepers for track maintenance. The wagons are being propelled by two battery locomotives, which can draw their power from the tracks, or use power stored in their massive batteries when the track current is switched off.

  • Nice catch!

  • should've jumped on :P

  • enginners

  • LOL WUT!

That's the strangest thing I have ever seen!

    5*+fav :D

  • whats that??

  • Great video :)

  • just stumbled upon this vid, never seen a video of one of these locos pulling a train before 5*

  • 5* Nice Catch very surprising, Everyone looked a Bit bemused by that.

  • its a battery loco

  • Yeah it was a bit of a surprise!

It was at Leicester Square station on the Piccadilly Line. I was just about to show my friend a video I had taken that night when we saw this weird train approaching, so I was able to switch to record mode and capture it!

Apparently they are a common sight if you miss the last train, but I hadn't seen one before!

  • @lofcmatt What about an entire underground rail system that not many even know about? The Royal Mail had such a system until 7 years ago. The whole system worked the same as TFL but on railtracks no one knew about, it carried all the mail from East to West North to South.

  • WHIRL great catch mate 5* and a fav which station was that

  • awsome!, i bet that was a shock for all those on the plarform!
