This is actually the way I do basic, but it isn't the only legitimate way. Pausing with both feet on the pause line is perfectly OK, so long as you don't blow your weight distribution while doing so. I also don't like the "quick, quick, slow" description (although it is very common), since your third step is no slower than the first two. It's really step, step, step, pause. I liked his shoulder incorporation.
