  • how long were the EVAs on apollo 17? if anyone knows, amazing footage

  • @CryptWarrior69

    1sr: 07:11:53

    2nd: 07:36:56

    3ird: 07:15:08

    Total 22:03:57

  • Damn ninjas can hardly see their movements as they steal the stars ...

  • @maninhoux

ninjas in white only in antarctica 0:)

  • Even in '72 I knew that cancelling the Apollo program was a bad idea I wish very much that it had continued. It was a bad call.

  • I don't deny we went to the moon. I just think that there was some other reason for going there than what they said. The scientists who ran nasa wer ex german nazis after all. And the Nazis wer obsessed with aliens. Then all of a sudden "Let's spend lots of money to go to the moon before russia (who got all of the nazis research which mainly consisted of alien stuff then later became obsessed with aliens also) does!"

  • @meehalee21 *when Russia sacked Berlin

  • @meehalee21 No Germans "ran NASA". Some Germans worked for NASA designing rockets, but NASA didn't only send people to space. They did, and do a lot of aircraft research and all kind of research about flying and space exploration. A very few of the staff were Germans.

  • @LightninLew because the footage is from the 70's....

  • I can't believe the comments here are polluted with conspiracy theory crap. Folks, lunar satellites have taken pictures of the landing site for Apollo 17. Most of the sites left mirrors at their sites which still reflect to this day. It happened - get over it.

  • @admiralbob77 yup. :P

you even see footsteps in the high resulution

ok not single ones, but the trample paths so to

speak. also the japanese probe reported match.

  • but this is mission are really existence ??

  • A great deal of preparation and experiment went into getting to the moon.. it's all there, the Mercury & Gemini programs and then Apollo. It wasn't all perfect all the time, but eventually they worked it out and did it.

I just wish NASA had the budget it needed to go back. It'd be nice if we didn't need to spend so much on defence and that money could mostly go to NASA instead. Can you imagine?

  • @LightninLew because its from 1972 and they all had piece of shit camera's.. its not Hd era...

  • @flyerholland These are film cameras, in many cases analogue film is higher quality than today's digital HD. It's because the cameras are compact that the quality is bad.

  • @LightninLew Television cameras back then were not very compact, something needed for the Apollo missions. A small camera was specially designed for the missions but with technology of the day it had to take a hit in terms of image quality. However, the individual photographs taken by the astronaunts on their 70mm Hasselblads are typically well exposed...and there is your nerd moment of the day!

  • @jazzclarinet2006 Thanks for your answer, I know it's 6months late but I got blocked from commenting on this video because apparently I'm a crazy conspiracy theorist just because I'm not an expert in film/cameras of the 70s.

  • @LightninLew

a conspiracy. I planned that longhanded so mine would peak out with such a galacto*bleeeep*great quality.yeah

  • Do the Moonwalk!!!!!!

  • Go land on Mars ffs..(2030 o' wtf!)..

  • America's heyday...too bad we haven't been back since 1971 or 2.

  • go to the moon ... the routine

  • Is this real life?

  • @andy92811 It was really live.

  • @andy92811 No. You're dreaming. . . ! WAKE UP!

I'm just messing with you, it's all real. :)

  • @andy92811 Okay now... okay now... I have two fingers

  • We have only four astronauts/kosmonauts and from that one was on the Moon. :-)

  • @SpacewolfCZ ahoj !

but mooning does not count. :P

  • @lostlyrics

You know, Eugene Cernan in czech is Ondřej Čerňan. :-)

  • @SpacewolfCZ yeah :P as erika

is pronounced ježika in hungarian. and?

    eugene's anchestors were from slovakia.

  • the people who deny that mankind never went to the moon are mostly religious fanatics who see science and astonomy as the work of HaSatan

  • @TheHotelMoxa

some people still wonder why usa leads only

at sabotage, espionage and destruction yet !

    while the consequences of homeschooling

and similar child-abuse seem quite obvious.

  • @TheHotelMoxa - you are truly stupid. that's the most arrogant, unsubstantiated, bigoted statement i have heard in a long time. when we look at mathematical probabilities as applied to evolution, it is the scientific community that is guilty of religious fanaticism. the great mantra of modern society is "denier". its called asking questions. if you can answer them fine. if not then maybe it didn't happen....

  • @fowzie777 You won't find many answers to your questions on YouTube, but those answers are out there. You just have to make sure you use reputable sources of information. Those with a "conspiracy theory" driven agenda very rarely (if ever) come from a scientific/engineering background. That should immediately ring an alarm bell for you. Do you really think that relatively unqualified people are going to spot genuine "anomalies" in the Apollo data whilst countless scientists & engineers do not?

  • i love Gene Cernan. he's my favorite Navy astronaut

  • I am looking forward to constellation! I love it! :-)

  • So was I.

    Kind of a bummer...

  • wow!!!!

  • people that deny the greatest engineering feat that mankind has ever embarked in are like a weight around societies ankle. to deny that it was done, is to believe it cant be done. but, a group of pilots and engineers, and computer geeks decided it could be done back in the 60's and they built the machine and freakin' did it. so, do some research, and stop believing every conspiraty theory thats out there. we have enough real stuff to worry about.

  • @000coffinhead000

Well said. They got together and did it. Conspiracy theorists are a weight around the ankles of society. God help us if they ever gain power. I'd hat to live in their world.

  • @lukequixotesanjose= They never will. They can't even move out of their mother's basement.

  • @vigo894

LOL. Most of them probably can't find the way out of their mother's basement.

  • Never seen this footage before. And that is something, because I've seen hundreds already..!

Thanks for uploading and keep on going.

  • keep busy applying to my blocklist, trolls. enjoy your silly troofer agony elsewhere now that we have already new photos even before lro reached its final orbit now leak off and knit another confpirafy variant - chinese zinoinists placed all that stuff later up there just to tease you :P I like the caravan path of a14 best just btw check nasa for lro-images of apollosites five of six is what they snapped already later series will have yet triple better resolution
  • it looks like he lost something at 1.03, dropped by mistake... :)

  • cool!

  • We need to go to there, lol.

  • i want to go to the moon too

  • No I'm not happy, we're not going back to the moon for years.

  • Going to the moon requires courage, character and resolve. Frankly, these qualities are quickly becoming scarce.

  • Yeah but we only need 3 people out of six billion, the odds are good.

  • Not true at all, we need the majority of the country. Without public support, and public out cry for such projects to be done, they never will be done. Right now, the public is more intrested in censoring music, movies, and books and "saving the children" than they are doing anything great.

  • I mean we only need 3 people to carry out the moon landing.

Public opinion counts for nothing especially in a democracy.

  • We need more than 3 people for a moon landing. In order to design the Saturn V and the LEM and everything else that needed to be built, over 400,000 people worked hard for more than 7 years.

Now that NASA is building Orion and Artemis to return man to the moon, tens of thousands of men and women are working hard to design and build the machines. It takes thousands of people to put 3 people on the moon.

The Apollo Astronauts did not get there all by themselves. Not to mention the tax money.

  • Ravenflight104, you're absolutely right! These astronauts endured immense radiation in the Van Allen belts and since the moon doesn't have a magnetosphere, they were further exposed to more radiation! These astronauts are amazing and very courages!

  • The radiation belts are small, and around the earth, not the moon. Get your facts straight,

  • They got about a regular X-rays ammount of radiation passing through the Van Allen belt. Dont get your info from conspiracy idiots. Its usually wrong.

  • I heard on NPR today in an interview that the astronauts are exposed to about 27,000 X-Rays worth of radiation.

  • You heard wrong. They recieved about the same amount of radiation that someone gets in three years living at sea level. or what a nuclear plant worker is allowed in one year. Less than one rem.

  • They were also exposed to masses of Z particles while in space and to this day they still are unsure of the long term damage.

That still should not stop us going back though

  • Be that as it may, Buzz Aldrin is a very old man who seems to be in quite good health!

  • Come on America go back to the moon! If you can waste money on the Iraq you can easily waste moon on more moon landings (less people get killed for a start!)

  • They had a large backback which contained the PLSS, on, which altered thier center of gravity. An attempt at a really high jump by jumping straight up , would have a chance of one tipping over. Armstrong found this when he tried. Landing on the PLSS back, the thing that is keeping you alive, is a BAD thing.

  • The pressure suit and PLSS mass was about 82kg, as much as the astronaut. Add the suit stiffness under pressure and I'm not surprised they didn't jump higher. But Neil Armstrong did a squat jump up several rungs of the LM ladder at the end of the EVA.

The mass of the backpacks was demonstrated by the forward angle at which they stood to balance.

  • It's not a cable, it's a VHF blade antenna much like a metal tape measure. We hams actually use tape measure blades on many of our satellites; they make excellent deployable antennas.

How else did they communicate? They're in a vacuum, ya know.

  • well it's only the same technology that allows spacewalks and they were doing those since gemini 4 with ed white, so you can;t say they didnt have the technology

  • come on, over many thousand of people were involved in this. Every part of apollo was working during the production. Offcourse we had the technology.

  • how is that inconsistant though. to me it looks like he's hardly moving his legs and is bouncing. his acceleration due to grav seems much slower than earth. he would have to be connected to an inteligent crane to mimic that.

I think, if he was to bend his legs and leap (like on earth), he would go right up in the air (well vacume). But if they did mess around like that and they slipped (as did happen at one point), they could have damaged their suit.

  • head a suit and a backpack on wich was over 40 kilos in weight so he would weigh 22 - 25 kilos on the moon.

  • No, a 10m drop on the moon would give 5.72 m/sec. A 10m drop on the earth would give 14 m/sec. There'd be 6x as much potential energy 10m above the earth than the moon.

Kinetic energy goes as velocity squared. (14/5.72) squared is 6. So a 10m drop on the moon would be like a 10/6 = 1.67m drop on the earth.

  • something i never understood, is if they are in 0 gravity why dont they just float off the moon? is there some gravity on the moon that stops that from happening?

  • it's not zerograv, the moon got 1/6 of

earth gravitional force - means a naked

male athlet could high-jump about 8.20 meters

(center of gravity in a 6ft body, about 1 m up

so if your champ makes 2.20 m in sports, that is

actually just hieving the center of gravity by 1.20 m )

  • They are experiencing 1/6 gravity on the moon. While in orbit or travelling to and from a planet, they would experience weightlessness.

  • The gravitational force between two bodies follows an inverse square dependence of the distance between them. It is not linear. There is a rapid fall off of the experienced force as you increase the distance between two bodies.

  • offcourse the moon has gravity 1/6 of the earths gravity.

  • i think montain

  • no need to look.

on the moon there are no clouds.

  • i hope you understand the energy difference and ionization leves. Hence the difference in shielding

  • let me educate you ! Sun's radiation consists of visible radiation (light, about 50%), the other half is near infrared (NIR), and some is ultraviolet part of the spectrum. None of that is shielded with lead, because of the lover energy of the radiaton.

The dentist uses X-ray like you said, which which has to be shielded with lead because of higher energy. (UV:12.4 eV, Xray=124 keV) !!!

  • This aint fake..If it were why only know after near;ly forty years. The astronauts risked their own lives going there now they're in their old age, some fuckin' quarterbacks will just accuse them of faking their flights. How about the lift offs at Cape Canaveral, where'd you think they went? This moon hoax is silly!

  • This Is Real They were on the Moon Period Awesome Indeed.

  • Cernan was cool, but Schmitt was just the ticket!

  • amazing the incredible moments we all experience in our short time amidst the vastness of it all...wake up and break out of it you pathetic idiots. Its just such a waste of time to think that man didn't walk on the moon. Sad little trips you people must have.

  • the world is fed up with ppl thinking they're so smart.

  • I f you ever drive through Utah..there are plenty of moon sites...

I don't know why people spammed this...its true Utah has some places that look like the moon.

Of course i am not saying the moon landing was a hoax...

  • I wish I could be on the moon. Then I could find out i its really made of cheese.

  • try key word harry caray

  • People take footage like this for granted. THIS IS REAL MOON FOOTAGE. This symbolises the power of mankind. This is amazing. Could you imagine really walking on the moon? Wow.

  • You don't have to wait for VLT. In about a year NASA will send in orbit around the moon a recon spaceship which will take high resolution photos of Apollo remains. The lunarmodule the moon buggy and the flag will be photographed from above.

  • I hear you - as dubya heard the chinese

rushing in with engines blarring - hehehe.

especially from germany it was a pain watch

how the nasa degenerated to eager sycophants

after von Braun, just ruled by an uninspired

and careless military giving a flying stuff

on human lives and future technologies ... ~*~

  • ppl will just claim its a fake...

  • VLT won't be able to spot the descent stage of the lem; this would need a 200m diameter telescop.

  • I recommend you review its features. it cAn. ~*~

  • The best mission...strolling on the Moon one day...

  • Cool, only way to see the stars was is go on the oppsites side from the lighted side.

  • There are no stars in the sky, but that is an exposure thing. It's pretty easy to take a picture and show a sky with no lights, just uses a super bright light source.

  • if you look carefully the fine dust settles with out floating, like its in a vacuum. and look at the effects of gravity. Oh shit I think they are on the moon!!!

  • I recommend to wait 10 years at least, by then the

European VLT will have reached a solution sufficient

to SEE the left under-carriages of the lunar moduls ~*~

  • Its a antenna reflecting light! if it was cable then when he leaned forward then the cable should still pointing up not the same direction as hes leaned.. to those who thinks moon landing were faked, youre wasting youre time. one day u will know!

  • when the eiropean VLT is complete (in ten years) it

will have a resolution to spot the undercarriage of LEMs

I think some photos of the first missions are faked, but

can't believe that observatories on the whole world

could be fooled with all the apollo communication ~*~

  • Countries like China, Japan, Russia are serious about landing Man on the Mooon. Probes are already in the works, and one objective is to confirm all 7 Apollo landing sites. Maybe we really went 1 time and the other 6 were faked. I pray they do find The American flag on the Moon, living astronauts who walked on the Moon are being humiliated & rediculed and not taken serious.

  • "one objective is to confirm all 7 Apollo landing sites"?

First of all, there were only six Apollo landings. 13 didn't make it. And no country is going to waste hundreds of millions of dollars just to confirm what everyone but a few ignorant conspiracy types already knows.

  • You were watching real close up the clips? You mean this fuzzy broadcast image? Why don't you go look at the photographs in the archive. They are high resolution 2 1/4 X 2 1/4 Hasselblad images. I'm telling you there are antennae on their back packs that are glinting in the sun and causing vertical streaks in the video image that people HERE are interpreting to be flying wires. Just go look!

  • Go to the NASA site, Apollo Image Archive, Apollo 17 to see clear images of these guys. In this video you see light glinting off an antenna on the back pack, not a wire. Laying flat on the ground they CAN do a forceful pushup that bounces them up to a standing position with their arms alone since a 200 lb man weighs only 33 pounds on the Moon. Muscles of a grown man, weight of a five year old.

  • If you go to the NASA site, Apollo Image Gallery, Apollo 17, you can see crystal clear photographs of these guys. You will see that there is an antenna on the top of the back pack. You are seeing light glinting off the antenna, not a wire. In 1/6 Gravity you CAN push your entire rigid body up with one arm since a 200 lb man weighs only 33 lbs. Your weight is far less, but you still have ALL your mass, hence the strange strides. TRY to think beyond your limitations.

  • Look for the antenna. You can see it here: 0:14, 0:28. At 0:47 cam zooms, the brightness of sunlight on the suit makes camera's auto exposure shut iris down, image grows dark, you can't see antenna. See it again at 1:03. Many nice views of it 1:25 to 1:55 and again from 2:00 to 2:10. Again at 2:23. If some mega rich guy sent a probe and got pictures of the landing site, you would just say they were fake, too.

  • the equipment weighs quite a few pounds also :P

    ~*~

  • that was cool

  • me too brave souls very very cool...

  • Great video! Would like to be able to see all of the EVA's from the moon.
