hey people, please check out my vid of my fav guitarists and leave some comments. Bare in mind that its not a list of most technical guitarists necessarily, just my fav ones, maybe there will be someone you wont know and u might find new music. Just click my name and u will find my vid on my page. CHEERS!
rolling stone and the so called ROCK N ROLL hall of fame! aRE JOKES! politically correct liberals thats all! RUSH HEART KISS YES AND THIN LIZZY ARE NOT IN THE RNRHOF! wtf?! and please the so called 100 bestever?! EVH should be in the top 10 SHAWN LANE! should be #1! and joan jett and kurt kobain are ahead of EVH?! nice try sissy liberaLS! but rolling stone magazine sucks ASS!
Johnny Ramone?! you kidding me! I like the idea he is a right winged punk rocker but he aint that talented... But unfortunately he did pave the way to punk which did inturn breed into our modern alternative rock.
my fav is Randy Rhoads WERE THE HELL IS HE IN THIS?? i dont think Jack White is good at all , wow 7 Nation Army is such a hard song at guitar, i learned it the first day i got my guitar
The criteria is essentially technique & imagination grounded in American blues/rock:
1. Jimi Hendrix
2. Jimmy Page
3. Eric Clapton
4. Duane Allman
5. Neal Schon
I'm not a fan of Joe Satriani or Steve Vai, but I give them credit for thinking outside the box (Vai actually invented his own scale, Xavian). Frank Zappa, a brilliantly, imaginative composer, was also a nimble-fingered, blues guitarist. Flamenco guitarists are the best & Neal Schon plays rock just like one.
I dunno about some of those blues players- yes Chuck Berry but Ry Cooder? Yes Page and Vaughan, but BB King ahead of Randy Rhoads, another hugely inspirational guitarist who was one of the founders of shredding at 85? EVH at 70? Jack White in the top 15 with Kurt Cobain and Keith Richards? I almost stopped playing guitar because of this list, this list makes life feel worthless and meaningless, like nothing good has ever happened. ROLLING STONE SUCKS they only got Hendrix right!
@thatgibsonguy0001 BB is great, but he wasn't as revolutionary as Hendrix or Page or Chuck Berry. BB played box pentatonics, and was not the first to do so. He was more like Slash-a great guitarist for his time but never really started anything. Though BB's feeling in his playing is incredible
@goodygoody23 He is known for the most melodic bends ever. He knows how to make his guitar sing, instead of just playing. With BB, it sounds as though his guitar has its own voice.
@thatgibsonguy0001 that's the same with Hendrix. When he gets going in Red House, it just sounds like heavenly music rather than a guitar solo, Same with Rhoads, Gilmour, Page, etc.
Kurt cobain, jack white, joey ramone? Please, Rolling Stone don't know a shit and they're the most overrated ever. Probably one of the worst music magazines ever. Sorry, but that's my opinion.
your fucking kidding me right? those are three of my favorite guitarists and their also probaly three of most talented and creative in the history of rock n' roll. You think kurt cobain sucks? try singing in his style while playing guitar in his style at the same time.not easy. You think Johnny Ramone sucks? try playing only downstrokes for 2 hours with a 3 second break in between each song. You think Jack white sucks? try playing guitar, piano and singing all in one song.
@guitardrumskate sorry. Johnny ramone. Joey is their singer. Did I say they suck? No. And btw, I can do all those things. Except maybe scream in the same style as cobain which isn't really my style. Enough said, don't try to outsmart people if you're not a musician please. Being your favourite doesn't mean their the best. And it doesn't take years of practice to play 3 chords with fast downstrokes. It's what the ramones play, it's their style. I like them. But he's not a really skilled guitarist
that's not impressive. kurt's riffs weren't that complicated so it's not that hard to sing to them. dave mustaine on the other hand i a completely different story. crazy technical riffs while singing at the same time. the moment i saw kirk hammett on this list i knew it would suck big fat balls and it does.
@b0nsc0ttr0ck Honestly, Jack White deserves to be on this list. I didn't think he did until I did research. This list is messed up, but they got Jack right.
Kirk Hammett, Angus Young, Kurt Cobain and Keith Richards should be lower. Brian May should be in the top 5, at least top 5. Øystein Sunde should be here too. And Richie Blackmore.
it is funny how only one person noticed that albert king was pictured insted of b.b. king. it is even funnier how that person (heavymetaldude95) got 2 thumbs down on his observation...*sighs* B.B. deserves more respect than that!
yea true but rolling stone judges by innovation. In an age where everybody was soloing as fast as they could and creating huge metal riffs, Kurt appeared and played a more simple style, and proved that when used correctly, simplicity could kick ass and sound just as good as something complicated.
Im going to have to disagree with you. I've been to an AC/DC concert and Angus young was amazing at his solo's, and definitely worth a mention in the top 100, i'm just glad slash didn't make it.
mmmm no me gustoo ningnuoo sha qe no esta john frusciante qe para mi es el mejor primero ta jimi hendrix y despues el para mi john frusciante tiene creatividad amor pasion y poder qe ninguno otro lo tienee un besoo cuidateee
