i own both games. I think gears of wars story is stupid. Resistance has a more complex story. And gears's weapons are useless (flamethrower and the crossbow for example) . Resistance has unique weapons. I agree that gears has better graphs but resistance has better gameplay and multi too. The cooperative is awesome. So i vote 4 Resistance!

Resistance is tight and fun, Gears is epic and compelling.
Gears clearly has more clever visual design and tech, but Resistance isnt to bad there either and has incredibly hectic scenes, unpredictable enemies and a very good story I think.
Verdict: Resistance is great, immense fun with a fantastic campaign and has a lot of replay value.
Gears is some epic badass eyecandy with interesting gameplay and design.
I feel similar, because Halo(goodgame) still has the same humans vs aliens future story. Resistance was more complicated, were the aliens a bioweapon gone wrong, aliens, the next step in evolution, ? And u kept hearing about the Cloven, which made the story even more compelling.
But Gears' enemies the Locusts weren't that cool to me. Theyr underground aliens, cool, yawn.
R3 will beat entire GoW1, 2, and 3 story on its own.
The makers at Insomniac have repeatedly hinted at Resistance 3. And besides, the ending of R2 was a cliffhanger. I dont know why every sequel has to have a cliffhanger leading to the third game. MW2, SW:ESB, Halo2, B:BC2, etc etc etc...

It will be close. Very very close. Both games have a diverse array of alien types (though Resistance probably has much more) they both have groundbreaking gameplay, but most importantly they're fun to play. GoW1 had short campaign but great MP; GoW2 had great campaign but lacking MP; as for R2, the weapon wheel is gone so you can only carry 2 weapons. However, I'd say it improved in all other areas.
So to say GoW3 will beat R3 easily is going too far just yet.

Resistance was better but not by far. R1 and GoW are graphcially and techincally almost the same but in some places R1 had a lead in terms of textures, scale and specail effects. Gameplay wise, both great games but R1 was a lot faster. Multiplayer was much better in Resistance, it had 32 players battles and awesome experiance system.

most of gears weapons were standard fare, pistols, shotguns, rifles, the norm. Resistance wasn't like that, it did have some standard guns like the rifle, sniper, and shotgun but it also had unique weapons like the bullseye (tag an enemy, all shots go to it and you can set up traps with it), auger (can shoot through walls), and hail storm (can fire a airborne turret to help you)
Well if the locust vs resistince badies I wonder what would happen but since boomers/beast riders/lambent there's alot more in the hollow waiting to be seen in gears 3 (sorry for bad spelling or grammer)
you've obviously never played resistance... russians didn't make the chimera, they are a virus that fell from a meteor (see Tunguska event). apparently the chimera were on the planet millions of years before humans (chimera are digging up their tech, towers, and vehicles) and to them they're taking back what's theirs (all explained in resistance 2)
I've played both and I have to give it to Gears of War.
I thought it was more of a breath of fresh air from first person shooters. Resistance to me felt like a PS3 version of an overhyped, first person shooter like Halo 3. They're both OK games.
Plus, you gotta remeber, Locust came from the ground, whilst Chimera Mutate ordinary people into them, so its like shooting an innocent in an evil body
yeah knowing that your family turned into one of them and your the one who gotta gun them down while they still look like your family or get Clawed alived is epic in its own right to be good moment and a sad one
Gears of War is one of the best games ever to the Xbox 360, but that doesn't mean that Resistance is a bad game, it's an incredible game to, but Gears of War will always be bigger, better and more badass indeed!

Gears of war isn't even worth mentioning. There are third party games I enjoy more than this exclusive. but then again, I'm not a brain-dead pot-head.
Resistance wins cause of 60 players online and all the fun mods, you can also do co-op fighting in storyline but somewhat different but still fun you can be medic shielder with ultimate gun and ammo giver with electric bolts to assist you and a marketer sniper which is a sniper which rules!
I would have to say that both games are good, depends really on how you play your game's but I believe that Gear's of War is relativity better because of the style of 3rd person game play and it is more believable than Resistance because of how your not a one man army.
To all console fan boys out there both are good but there is nothing better than the PC anyways I hope I haven't pissed to many people off and hope you all have fun playing your games.

I'm a gearhead. Resistance wasn't as dirty as gears just look at the beautiful headshots and the bloody chainsaw melee in gears. Gears was a heavier game.

RESISTANCE. Since everytime a New GoW comes out, there is always a RESISTANCE to come out and rival it. Ive seen the billboards and RESISTANCE 3 is going to come out and kick GoW3's over hyped ass, while KILLZONE 3 kills HALO REACH.

Resistance was better but not by far. R1 and GoW are graphcially and techincally almost the same but in some places R1 had a lead in terms of textures, scale and specail effects. Gameplay wise, both great games but R1 was a lot faster. Multiplayer was much better in Resistance, it had 32 players battles and awesome experiance system.

most of gears weapons were standard fare, pistols, shotguns, rifles, the norm. Resistance wasn't like that, it did have some standard guns like the rifle, sniper, and shotgun but it also had unique weapons like the bullseye (tag an enemy, all shots go to it and you can set up traps with it), auger (can shoot through walls), and hail storm (can fire a airborne turret to help you)

you've obviously never played resistance... russians didn't make the chimera, they are a virus that fell from a meteor (see Tunguska event). apparently the chimera were on the planet millions of years before humans (chimera are digging up their tech, towers, and vehicles) and to them they're taking back what's theirs (all explained in resistance 2)

I've played both and I have to give it to Gears of War.
I thought it was more of a breath of fresh air from first person shooters. Resistance to me felt like a PS3 version of an overhyped, first person shooter like Halo 3. They're both OK games.

Resistance wins cause of 60 players online and all the fun mods, you can also do co-op fighting in storyline but somewhat different but still fun you can be medic shielder with ultimate gun and ammo giver with electric bolts to assist you and a marketer sniper which is a sniper which rules!

I prefer Resistance. I don't like the cover system of Gears of War. Shooting is all about action. First person delivers that better than 3rd person.
The style of Resistance's gameplay is just more exciting and fun for me. Yeah, Gears of War has the graphics, so what?
Killzone 2 > Halo 3
Resistance/2 > Gears of War/2

I would have to say that both games are good, depends really on how you play your game's but I believe that Gear's of War is relativity better because of the style of 3rd person game play and it is more believable than Resistance because of how your not a one man army.
To all console fan boys out there both are good but there is nothing better than the PC anyways I hope I haven't pissed to many people off and hope you all have fun playing your games.

I am no fanboy and if your not a ps3 fanboy then fine IDK but quit dissin gears I love the game better than resistance and gears 2 better than resistance 2 especially after they ruined co op on resistance 2 come the majority of gamers would rather play the normal campaign and not some piece of junk campaign where you have to have a medic or else you will die in a matter of seconds that's what happens on resistance 2 and gears 2 had a better ending to me IMO.
