all ff characters are alittle diferent in kh. for example tidus is like 9 so it wouldnt make sence if yuna came to kh in her 20 something year old form cause what would happen if she met tidus. i dunno why they are faries but i dont think it would work if they where all 20 something and tidus and wakka where only like 9 and 12. i also think kh takes place after squall met rinoa so i think something must have happened to her for her not to be there. and kh takes place in the midle of ff7

Kingdom Hearts is a completely separate "universe" from Final Fantasy, they changed all of the ff characters a bit, like Squall/Leon is 25 in the first kh game, but he was only 17 in ff8. That way it's also possible for Aerith to be alive... ( go chech wikipedia, there is a lot stuff about the characters there)
