  • VERY nice man, great job. as everyone has stated, you have a noticeable zakk wylde influence, but you're able to put a lot of your own playing in there too. BTW, nice wah work!

  • u should be in america's got talent, i bet u gonna make the men piss and the women eject orgasm wid dat tune :D thumbs up for you man!

  • love the wah! i need one u_ u

  • nice job bro man, loving the wah

  • where did you get that backing track? can you send me some copy of your backing track?

  • woooow awesome!!! where do you get those backingtracks

  • @ LockerzSwagbucks Kid I think you need to read my comment again and then please explain to me how it was shit talk. I said that "IT WAS REALLY GOOD" and I did express my opinion about how it could have been better if he left the box once in a while. Yes I knew he was playing pentatonic's, but that doesn't mean you have to play in a box the whole time. Do you understand what I'm saying child? I don't blame you for being ignorant, but please read from now on b4 you make a comment at someone.

  • awesome! what wah pedal are you using? it sounds great!

  • @MrSmallyyyyy Im using the ZW45 Wylde Wah. Its awesome, you've gotta get one!!

  • @juvirox Thanks!!

  • This is your Style is zakk wylde, very good 5/5

  • @lmf94 Thanks!!

  • Whats your caps??

  • I think this solo could have been better if you left the pentatonic box once in a while, but this was really good nonetheless

  • @jerk618 i think the same.

  • @jerk618 Dude look the fucking title... this video is all about pentatonic read before saying shit.

  • thanks bro you play flawless your bad ass

  • WTF U've got a whammy bar on ur Les Paul

    Very nice playing btw

  • Is this a song that you wrote or something by any chance? I was curious what the chord progression is. Also, a question on your improvising. Do you just have like the scale positions memorized and you just run through those memorized notes?

  • hey can you give me a lesson on what scales too use or which ones i just started playin guitar about a year ago i got really good at chords n stuff and kinda play by ear but i really dont know anything else what are some great scales u like

  • I cant explain the scales I like, so what Im gonna do is record some scales that I like to use, and post them here. I will be posting a scale video within the next few days. Check back!!

  • everything is sweet you play awesome

  • Thanks Jonslick!

  • What amplfier and pedal are you using? I want to buy something just like that its sounds amazing.

  • Using 2 JCM 800 (2203) amplifiers, with a BOSS SD-1, CE-5, and a ZW45 for an extra edge when needed! Good Luck.

  • nice licks man! i hear zack wylde when you play! is he an inspiration of yours? maybe im wrong but you have taht kinda of full step vibrato thing at times which is really cool!

    nice playing man¬!

  • @xxxEnterSandmanXxX

Ohh, Zakk Wylde is def an inspiration. Met him a few times and talk to him on Twitter!! Thanks for the comment!

    MJ

  • Sweeeet!

  • Thanks!!!

  • Did you use Minor or major pentatonic scales? or both?

  • Mostly Minor.

  • Ok thanks and good job on this it sounds awesome

  • haha well i can play half as good as that, i might record a video, but i got a babyish marshall so it wouldnt sound to good, ill wait till i get the halfstack for christmas

  • Man, I hope you get that Halfstack for Christmas!! Awesome!

  • wow... amazing!

  • Thanks!!!

  • That is a beautiful Les Paul Custom you got there! What year and what finish/color is that anyways?

  • Thanks,

This one is my 1980 Gibson Les Paul Custom in Wine Red. Plays like butta!!

    MJ

  • I'm now just learning this scale. How long's it going to take for me to get this good? :)

  • One to Three years!!

  • LOL...good one.

  • 1:00 sounds like Kenny Wayne Shepherd. rock on

  • Thats awesome!! thanks!!

  • damn dude how can you have a marshall and gibson LP but not play for 6 months? if i had those two id stay up day and night jammin on them

  • I know right!! I just left a band and needed the break. Also I moved so getting setup in another state made me put it down for awhile!! But I play now whenever I can!!

  • Which pentatonic scales are you using? Major, minor, blues, or something else?

  • This in the A Minor Pentatonic that I am using. Mostly the second and third Positions mixed and mingled up.

  • I have a question when playing Pentatonic Scales:

How do I know when to change scales? I'm talking about which key. For example, if I start on A, how do I know how/when to switch to a different Key scale? And which one would I switch to? Does it go by the rhythm's chords?

  • I go by the sound of the Key. If your jamming in the Key of "A" and it switches to the key of "E", just slide the scale to that key, but in a smooth transition. You have to learn how to make it sound "Smooth" in the transitions. Takes some time but keep working at it.

    MJ

  • In the video, did you change to a different key or were you just using the different positions of the scale?

  • Yes, The best advise to give!!!

    LEARN THEORY!!

    MJ

  • learn theory, it will help you a lot

  • are you rich? lol you got a les paul and a huge amp. lol im not a expert in guitars but i know that cost a lot. i got a squier fender and a tiny tiny amp and that was 200 dollars..nice playing...keeping rocking out

  • LOL! No, not rich, but it took some saving to get the setup I have now. Believe me, its worth every penny. I played Mid-lined Ibanez guitars for awhile and loved them, then I picked up the Paul that some guy had and was impressed. In fact, after I got the Les Pual, I never went back to a strat style guitar again. The feel actually made me a better player and performer. As for the Marshalls, yeah they are huge, but are for "bigger" gigs. I use a small Orange amp for the small shows!!

  • SO So sloppy! its drenched in effects so it dosent sound that bad. but its sloppy dude if your gonna make the effort to put up a video at least bring your A-game lol!!!!!

  • Your totally right dude. Six months of not playing is shameful, I need to find another hobby!! LOL!

  • Just sayin dude! didnt mean to be a dick or anything!

  • im way better than this, in 1 million years

  • hey, how do you get that awesome sound ? Are you using a wah pedal ??

  • Hey!!

Yeah, I use the ZW-45 Wylde Wah by Dunlop. It gives that extra edge on the sound when I want it.

  • dude what pentatonic scale is that ive just learnt the a minor pentatonic scale i wish i could shred like that

  • Its a mixture of all 5 positions of the Pentatonic Scale. In the Key of A Minor. Adding 3rds and 5ths to make it sound more melodic. Use your own Personality and style to add Flare to the music. Thankd bro!

    MJ

  • Great man, keep it up.

  • Thanks alot!!

  • One word , Awsome.

  • Thanks man!!

  • what key is that on?

  • Key of "A"

  • no its not....

    its in the key of

    Kick "A"ss

  • nice guitar and amps!! you're playing very good!! 5*

  • Thanks man.

  • Geez man, I have been playing for about a year and just started learning the minor pentatonic scale. This video gives me inspiration!

    Nice bro

  • Thanks alot! I keep wanting to post new vids. Just havent got around to it.

    MJ

  • From one guitar player to another, just amazing man! you have some real talent throwing in those harmonics, cuz I know how hard that is. 5 stars.

  • Thanks Man!! I'll have to check out your vids!! I need to get my ass back in the jam room and record some more videos!! Later man!

  • did you get influenced by zakk wylde much because you soling sounds alot like his

  • Randy Rhoads was my main influence. I have always loved Zakk's stuff so I think it shows a little in my playing.

  • How come you had six months off the guitar man?

  • Moved, Lost interest. No band. Bored.!! LOL!

  • Sounds familiar! I've been playing 17 years but had a period where i didn't pick a guitar up for over a year.

I'm back up to about 2 hours a day practise now though. Still a far cry from my teenage years when i spent every minute i could shredding!

Determined this time not to lapse again!!!

  • really nice :P I am also working on solo's.. but pretty hard to make it sound nice..

  • Keep it up. It will come.

  • Hey man! Nice improv, I truly enjoyed it. What is your guitar? a Gibson or Epiphone?

    -Christina

  • Hello!!

Its a 1980 Gibson Les Paul Custom.

    Thanks for the Comment.

  • Gibson Les Paul Custom.

  • since your in A minor did you play off of A minor pentatonic scales ONLY the whole time? cuz im kinda confused

  • Hey Overkill!!

No. I was playing all 5 of the positions in the pentatonic scale just changing the positions as the key changed. If I tabbed it out, you can see that most of the positions I play are in the second and third positions in the Pentatonics. Hope that helps!! Thanks for stopping by!!

    MJ

  • so if the backround chord changed from lets say an A to an E, then u moved to an E pentatonic scale, is that what you're getting at? (sorry for my ignorance :) )

  • Thats right. Whatever your chord changes to, just move it to that key, Mainly by changing the position of the scale but do it in a way that it doesnt sound like your just moving from one scale to the next. Make it Flow.

    MJ

  • k cool i get it thanks

  • Oh hell yeah dude that's dang cool. I salute you man!

  • Thanks alot man!! YOU ROCK!!

  • Rock on Dude!!!

  • Whos the man?

  • wow! that's really impressive! you must be listening to good songs then..

  • awsome man...you just gave me so many ideas...thanks

  • Inspired? Thanks man!! YOU ROCK!!

  • you are a guitar god.

  • sorry man, not trying to be a douche or anything, but i think youve been playing longer than 6 months, plus you have a marshall amp and it looks like a gibson les paul supreme, and you used a bunch of harmonics.

  • NO MAN, Its been SIX months since Ive Played. Not been playing!~! Its ok man~!! Made me smile.

    MJ

  • coooooooooooooooooooooooool!!

  • I think i know this guy!!!! ha ha... love this jam man. as soon as me and wes get somthing down in the I will get it to you. Can't wait to see you guys later this month! keep up the good stuff!

  • wow 6 months and u can still jam like tat?

  • sounds like you have a wa pedal, but great improv, I need to learn to improv better!

  • man, what's your setup? I loved your tone!! and how do you record? you mic up the amp or you are using the cameras microphone? and what's the software? keep rockin'!!

  • great set, man!! my set is a Laney Combo (Tube power), MXR Super Comp, CE-3, NS-2, Meteoro Soctor Drive (V-Twin copy) and and Keeley mod Tube Screammer (soon). My guitars are the Ibanez RG1570 Prestige and my Fender Strat with Samarium Cobalt Noiseless. as soon as I buy my microphone, I'll give a sample of my rig. you should do that too. see ya!!

  • Gotta nail another 5er to this one!

  • 5 more from me man!! You really know your fretboard! And you know it with feeling and soul! Faved too main!!

  • at first i kinda agreed with inlacrima2013 (last comment)but as the song went on it got sweeter, don't think that's too much wahhh at all but it's your skills that kicks ass,it would be wrong to not give this one 5 stars

  • tooooooo much wahhhhhhh but nice playing

  • Hey man, cool riffing and classic set up you got there. I just posted some "soloing in A Minor" too, and that's how I found yours. Looking forward to more!
