I am Syrian living in canada, visited syria last summer. You gotta add some sort of excitement to life ... and yes, crossing streets is like running for your life, but it's fun.
haha..lol when i first went to syria i was still used to the australian road laws, so i waited for cars to let me cross the road as i would have expected in aussie, but it never happened and then one random guy from the shop near my street held me by the hand and crossed the road with me, i was shocked, i was 20 and he must have thought id never crossed a road by myself..embarassing
@danaden88 lol mate, they hold your hand when showing you the way even along pavements so don't worry. i was taught the same way too, they way they teach 5 year olds! lol
I'm a syrian, currently living in Australia. And when I first went to Australia i was like omg their streets are so organized! Then i thought to myself I hope Australians don't visit Syria much cause they would be so shocked.
omg damascus is crazy! i enjoyed visiting the city 2 weeks ago but drivers have their own way of law. i was screaming when i got taxi 4 the first time
lol when I went there me and my cuzens went crazy at some stupid driver, who almost drove over us but we caught up to him and gave him the beating of his life so funny.. THEN RAN!!!! OMG FUN TIMES CAN'T FORGET!!!
It's like that in most of the world. It's just the developed western countries like in North America, Northern Europe and also Australia where it is orderly. Many countries have traffic styles like Syria's. Asia is like this.
syrians are awesome!!!!

Its impossible to cross the streets in Aleppo like in any other country.
I would stand on the crossline for 10 minutes until someone pushed me and the crowd would take me to the other side of the road.

my theory is cross with a girl... the cars only run over guys :p
but don't be too rash, some of the girls cross the road like crazy ones!

Trust me, only guys and pets get run over. Stick with your girl friends and you can own the road :D
